At a time when I have no patience or fortitude to play difficult games, Dark Souls should be my kryptonite. Truth be told, I got the game on launch day and haven't been able to beat the first boss. I tried and tried and tried again, using one ember, two, three. If I couldn't beat him --WITH-- other's help, I certainly wasn't going to beat him on my own. Died after summoning phantoms, using my last ember. I said: "that's it, I'm done... might as well trade it in; I have no chance of progressing in the game." With literally nothing left to lose, I easily beat him. Maybe I'm just psyching myself out? Once I didn't care anymore, I took him down with little effort. Maybe there's hope for me yet.

When all feels lost look at your avatar and know that nothing in this game is as scary as that thing. Nyaa

PvP was gimped in BB? I loved PvP in that game.

In comparison to others? Yeah, you barely had areas where you would get invaded, and there were hardly any proper PvP zones. Souls games at least have fun covies like blademoons, dark wraiths, and "we protect this one zone covenant of we invade anyone that enters this zone, but only ever this zone", shit like that. BB shit I could go hours without ever remotely being invaded. When you got into PvP it was fine (albeit 20 blood vials means, that shit is a fucking drag), but actually PvPing, it doesn't happen nearly as often as the previous games. And I played that game religiously during its launch weeks.

True, I usually invaded people though so I had plenty of fights.

Beat the giant, that's two down. Interesting fight, it basically has cheat mode. So easy to cheese on coop for easy souls.

I'll confess that in every souls or soulsesque game, despite trying to beat every boss solo on my first playthrough there always seems to be that one boss where I'll cave and call in help.

Demon's Souls? Flamelurker
Dark Souls? The Four Kings
Dark Souls 2? Freja
Bloodborne? Vicar Amelia

I was SO close to never summoning in Souls 3....but I decided to complete an optional area in the game and the final boss of that area? Good god. Probably 30 attempts later I broke down and summoned someone.  From what I've read he is the most difficult boss in the game, so I don't feel that bad about summoning.
