I think you're underestimating how much time they would have spent on experimenting with the formula.  Sure, development doesn't start out with a 300 man team, but I wouldn't be surprised if Aonuma spent half a year or more just brainstorming and trying to get the gameplay and physics system to work.  If they don't completely overhaul that underlying governing set of systems, that's at least a couple of months spared that can be used for creating dungeons and whatnot, without lengthening development time.

Yeah not happening.

How many times have I thought about how these developers have made multiple 3D Zeldas and can just start building dungeons from day 1 and put out the next game is a lower time frame. Never happens. angry

They always have some year long period of conceptualisation. I don't think they could do 7 full dungeons, a massive open world and 120 shrines too.

So I've been putting off finishing the game. I have done all side quests and shrine quests that were on my log. I have done 110 shrines, no idea where the other 10 are but I haven't been to hyrule castle yet except for recovering that one memory.

I have all armour sets, so what I have been doing is maxxing them out, focusing on doing that is a huge task. I have notes like I made when getting the materials for the best mech in XCX. Now I have all armour sets I wish there was an option to equip matching items in one set rather than 3 separate stages.

Also, I have had to get Dragon parts and the one behind Death mountain is a nightmare to get to. There are no nearby shrines, closest one is gut check but that is still too far away. I wish there were more side quests, I feel like going back to every village and seeing if there are any more. But since I noticed that there would be a red circle next to them if they had a side quest I've been skipping talking to non red circle people.

Did all dungeons now, have most armour maxed out. Need a lot of Swift Violets if anyone knows anywhere to find a lot outside of near Dueling peaks waterfall.

Went back and did all the spots on the map I had marked as points of interest. I'm at 113 shrines done. 250 deku seeds.

I need to beat down some more lynels for armour upgrades. All my bows are either Royal bows or Lynel bows. All my shields are now above 44 defence points each. I have a shit-ton of powerful weapons. Not much else to do. I should comb the map piece by piece for everything. Blows my mind that there are 900 korok seeds. I also lost a horse somehow. I guess it must have been when I left the switch unpaused when I went to the toilet or something.

I beat my first Lynnel over the weekend.  It was easier than I would have thought.  And what did it drop.  A crappy Lynnel spear with a measily 14 attack points...

Also caught a giant horse.  I registered it, but it's kind of useless as it can't gallop.  While catching it I discovered a revolutionary new way of sneaking up on animals: aproaching them from above with the paraglider, and then just dropping down on them.  LOL

Actually Rao is an awesome horse.

His standard gallop speed is higher than all other horses and he has infinite stamina. As well as top strength stats.

Note: Some Lynels are easier than others....

But you can't press A to go faster?  Where's the sense of agency?

Don't know of the Lynel was easy or hard.  I'm guessing fairly easy.  He had 2000 HP and bellowed fire.  It was fun.

You don't need it. It's a lot easier and more relaxing not having to spam the whip button endlessly. Especially for the area behind death mountain which has no shrines and takes forever to get back to.

But, but,...  I like pressing A to go faster.  Sad  it gives my fingers and brain something to do when travelling longer distances.

I think it's supposed to be Gannondorfs horse, but I think it's a nod to Fist of the North Star's Raoh's horse.

Are we talking about the same horse?  Mine's speed is rated 2, with no rating for the stamina?  I caught it at the Taobab plains.

if it's black and ginger, yes. Forget about speed ratings, it's a giant horse so has a longer stride pattern and the other horses are rated on dash speed. Not regular galloping.

Right Ganons giant horse hasn't no button to go faster.

I beat Val Naburis or whatever it's called yesterday.  I'm not proud of it.  I had spent some time there not sure what I needed to do, before noticing 2 things I had completely missed earlier.  Then I needed 2 electric orbs to open a gate, and I had only ever seen one.  I said fuck this, put one orb in place and just laid out a chain of metal weapons and shields on the floor to conduct the electricity from the first orb to the empty pedestal on the other side of the room.  It's kind of cool that I could just do that, on the other hand, it does defeat much of the purpose of good level design.  And I really liked the level design in that beast, I just didn't want to spend more time running around aimlessly because I probably missed something obvious.

I found that dungeon perplexing yet at the same time really easy. I just ended up doing everything methodically and inevitably I ended up spotting the things I needed.

So I'm still waiting for my Switch back.

You guys have beat Ganon? Do you consider the game complete because you haven't posted much since? For me the game wont be done until I have beaten every shrine and every quest and upgraded all my armour sets. As a longer term goal, finding those 900 korok seeds is a long bet.

Yeah, I do feel like I've completed it.  I want to find all of the shrines because it's just a heckuva lot of fun to find them.

I am helping my son through his play through so it sort of feels like I'm going through a second time.

I'm still far off from beating Ganon.  One more beast to go and there's still little under a quarter of the map where I haven't even set foot in yet.  I've been playing this game for hours nearly dayly and there's still tons to see and do.  I'm currently in the rainforrest area (faron woods?), being irritated that the dense vegetation is hiding the shrines from my sight.  Hrm

How old is your son and is he a good gamer?

Faron woods is a separate area. Do you use the shrine echo locator function on your map?

I beat the game but 100% for me is getting all shrines and doing all missions. Fuck the seeds.
