But in all seriousness. If you want to see the future of gaming, look at what the yoot are playing compulsively and have been for the last few years. Minecraft and on-line persistent survival games.

The present gaming scene si predicated on old folks like me, and slightly younger counterparts.  The yoot coming up will want on-line, creation based, societal games that feed the brain like LEGO rather than the shooting gallery and book reading influenced games the older generations wanted.

The hardware is irrelevant, to bring up another netflix analog.  No-one cares what they watch netflix on, so long as it is always available and rellevant to their current environment, be that a bus, bed or couch.

Why must you be so depressing Aspro?  Sad. I don't disagree with you though.  But I doubt if these games will be made in dozens like we're used to seeing with traditional genres. I'd wager that things remain as they are now, with everyone and their dog playing one megahit, akin to how Facebook is huge and unchallenged.  I think worst case these 'new' kinds of games will result in the rest of the industry shrinking, I don't see the industry embracing these kinds of games like it did the FPS.

You know, I don;t see the vision I painted as depressing, it's just a new way.  The kids take music to new places each gen, and enough of them keep the good from the past to influence the new stuff.

And so we come to the conclusion that cloud gaming is the future - barring lag.

So PSVita/PSNow.
