I got a new machine from my job which comes with a new laptop. Its not mine, but I will be with it for the forseeable future. Might as well save my money and see what this baby can do. I am not going to fill it with a lot of games, I plan to activate Steam on it and get a few games.

This is what I got a Dell Vostro 3500 with an Intel Core i3 2.4 GHz, 3 G installed RAM, 32-bit operating system, Windows 7. Now for a graphics card, I dont think it has one, it has something called Intel HD graphics. So what can I do with this stuff. I am not really looking for it to run modern games but maybe stuff from the mid 2000s would be nice.

Also if any of you know about PS2 emulation. I have no PS2 at the moment but a ton of games for it. I know its possible to play PS2 games on PCs. can it be done on this laptop and how do I do it?

One more thing my stupid TV has no HDMI port, are there HDMI port adaptors or something so that I may hook this baby up to my TV?

1. Is it brand new? Or has someone had it before you?

Brand spanking new.

I just found out that there is no PS2 emulation where you actually play PS2 discs, so forget that.

Next step is how to get a PS2 controller to work.

Also, keep off the porn on that machine, it's an easy way to fire someone if they need an excuse.

I'd also take the extra precaution of asking if it is okay to load gaming software on the computer.  They'll likely say yes (given that they gave you a computer on which you have access rights to install), but it's also an easy way to get rid of someone if they need an excuse (wrongful use of company equipment).

If they did not give you something to sign when they gave you the equipment, they probably are not *that* kind of company.

Can you link me to the PS2 disc emulation? That could be handy, and since it's disc-based I'm cool with that.

If i ever have to turn it in or switch it out I will be deleting everything I added. Other than that they will never see the computer. And they really dont care, as long as the work is done.

I just saw that there is no disc based emulation so as I said that is out of the question. Guess I need a new PS2, what shit.

At least they are cheap.  What $99 now?

=-=-

They could have tracking software on it (that tracks installs, web traffic etc...) but like you said, if they don't care they don't care.

=-=-

Since there is no disc-based emulator, why not go disc-less? Morally you'd be cool since you have the disc at home.

Then I have to go through torrents and all sorts of shady crap to get the games, I dont want to mess with that on this computer. Steam is safe, I will stick with that.
