Agreed. Best sounding game I've seen without Dolby Digital or DTS outside of the PS2 MGS games. It made Pro Logic 2 seem almost as good as the real thing. It must be hard to pull that off, cuz it hasn't happened since.

With games I really don't notice much difference between pro logic 2 and 5.1

I can hear the difference between DTS and 5.1 though. Honestly after a while I gave up on surround sound in gaming, too many explosions. I only use it on games which have sweeping orchestral soundtracks like Endless Ocean and Mario Galaxy.

Really? To me its very easy to tell a difference. Pro Logic 2 bleeds the sounds together into the different speakers , its like unnatural surround sound... whereas Digital and DTS have complete separation between the speakers. DTS does sound better than Digital though...not sure why its not used more often. But yeah Pro Logic 2 isn't even close to either for me. Playing Wii games I usually just play in 2 speaker stereo because I think it sounds better than the faked surround sound most of the time. I played Mario Galaxy 2 in stereo.

But for really atmospheric games I always play in surround sound. I'm lucky to have the perfect room and setup for it though.

Nah I don't notice the difference. DTS is definetely sweet. I want to hear what 7.1 sound is like on Blu-ray. Honestly though the booming explosions of most blockbuster movies or action games just annoy me more than anything else. I don't want the insane booming bass. It irritates me. The only time I crank up the volume is when the actual music is worth listening to like in Studio Ghibli movies.

Well GG you have to set the sound levels on your speakers and shit to a spot that sounds good without being insane, you know? You can turn DOWN the bass if you want. lol

I quite like the combat, of course it's antiquated by todays standards but at the time it was an attempt to restrict your movement and such to make it a survival horror game. For instance, it took time to cast a spell and if anyone hit you before the chant completed you failed and had to try again. It became a constant battle to get space and position yourself against multiple enemies.

Well, I have not got to the spell casting yet, I'm still lolling around with whatever sword they give me (unless I'm missing something). I'm about 3.5 hours in.  Karim level.

Thinking about it through the RE lens -- constricting ability to raise tension -- that's a good way to think about it.

Okay, A couple of things happened that has changed the game a lot for me:

1. I realized I can save during the Chapters.  This means that doing chapter 4 6-9 times was not as painful as I was making it.

2. I now have spells.  So I can actually heal.

I'm up to Chapter 5 now.

Don't worry, on the second and third palythrough you won't need to save mid chapter anyway! It goes very quickly.

Can't argue the flaws but I still had fun with it. Enjoyed the horror story  and the playing of different characters within the storyline. Wish there would have been more bathtub scenes though.

I'm pretty sure NIntendo retained the rights to the game.

Still playing this, between rounds of SMG2.

My only problem with the game is that the puzzles are difficult only in their clumsiness, not their cleverness.  This is fairly frustrating.  Otherwise, it's sailing in with an 8.3 so far.

I can't remember any puzzles being taxing.

There were a couple that were incredibly stupid. Can't remember any specifics, but some were really, really dumb.
