I finished Firewatch this weekend and really enjoyed it. I cant justify the $20 price tag, a little too steep for the content. However, its free on Game Pass snd totally worth it if you have a PC or Xbox. I need more games like it. Recommendations?

It was a bit light on actual gameplay. I got lost a few times as there were impassable places on the map. Enjoyed it overall.

There's a game called the Magnificent Truffle pigs which looks similar. Only average reviews though.

Whatever happened to Edith Finch is decent.

Since my post

Persona 5 royal was beaten = shit game

Yakuza 1 = Its endearing, kind of mediocre, but endearing. I have thoughts

Travis Strikes Again = It's neat to see Suda go through like a career mid life crisis and acceptance in the form of a video game, I wish Suda games played half as good as they are interesting narrative experiences. He'd by one of my faves.

I started playing Skyrim for the first time, and that game plays so fucking shitty that I installed The Witcher 3 and beat Hearts of Stone. It is actually amazing how bad it is to control a bethesda character, that it makes controlling Geralt feel like an improvement. Geralt fucking sucks lol. Hearts of stone is a really cool take on a faustian story, I don't really know what takes from it are Polish in nature, but it did seem to fit the Witcher's sense of morality fine. Playing on death march does remind me, how sloppy this combat system is. That toad fight wasn't too harsh for me, but the nightmares and caretaker felt tedious, now that ive dropped doing side shit and go into each quest at the exact level it wants me there, but not changing to newer gears. It might have played into my decision to not butt in and save Olgierd.

Anyway I might stick with and finish skyrim, but that game is potentially on the chopping block for "i gave it a chance, but fuck that Im not sitting through that trash". There are certainly things to like here:the music, how liberating the game is in terms of being more hands off than most open world titles, how much game there is, vibes. But like the story is derivative, this world is so bleh and drab, it looks ugly, the ui is trash, the fov is trash, you control like you are floating through this world as opposed to actually being like physically in it with any sort of inertia, your melee strikes lack any sort of impact or feel that you are directly hitting shit, the bow is limp, the sneaking is baby shit, the horse i guess is fine, the magic is brain dead hold down the triggers and destroy. Even navigating the open world fucking sucks. I got tired of this in Elden Ring, where you would have thse cliff sides, and have to find the one path up the side to get to a higher point. Where as in Zelda and other open world games I just have more fun ways to move around the environment. This is that ER problem, but on fucking crack.

The fact that this game is beloved by so many and was as influential as it was? No harm no foul to me. People love what they love, i dont' agree with it, but by all means. But this shit got a 96 metacritic from the glorified marketing wing that is the game reviewers............a 96? You can not be be this fuckign garbage at the defining characteristic of the medium, there is like barely anything positive I said about the game. IT's one thing that the game has no depth, it's another thing that it feels that shitty to do anything. And I'd wager if I cared enough to judge things on how fucking star spangled RPG it is, that wouldn't do Skyrim and its level scaling ass any favors.

Just finished Triangle Strategy. It ended up being quite a bit longer then I expected. Took me nearly 90 hours for the first playthrough. Tried to view all the side stuff, character stories, do all the mock battles etc. Lots of story and dialog. The battles could get very lengthy. Some took me nearly two hours. The game is meant for multiple playthroughs with multiple endings and having to go through again to be able to fully build up your characters. There’s probably some characters that can only be acquired by taking different paths in the choices you make. Anyway quite an enjoyable game with a somewhat interesting story and strategic gameplay. 8/10

I'm counting Crysis as finished even though the game crashed and killed the entire load and save system one minute before the final cutscene. I just watched the remaining four minutes on YouTube.

'Fraud' - Aarny

Still, I'm not going to try replaying the entire tedious level without dying (so it won't load me into crash mode) just for that last minute.

Completed Stick it to the Man.

Solid game. Has a couple of bugs which held me up. Love the visuals and bizarre world.

It's like a simplified platformer with light adventure game elements.

It's not particularly long but still took me a week or so.

I'd say its about 5 to 6 hours.

That said it's a game I'll definitely replay.

Completed Flipping Death, a platform/adventure game from the same dev as Stick it to the Man.

Really enjoyed it.

Didn't flow as easily as Stick it, but that's because it's nowhere near as simple.

Fun game set in an outlandish world where you flip between the land of the living and the dead. You posses characters in the living and use their special attributes to influence the world.

Completed Detective Gallo, good fun overall.

It's a point and click detective game where you play as a hard boiled rooster.

It won me over in the end, being longer and having all logical item use. The art is also on par with the modern Leisure suit Larry games.

Could have used a better story and more humor but the end gag almost completely made up for it.

Also gets bonus points for being a point and click game with actual one handed gyro control.

Doom 3 is finished and what a fantastic game it turned out to be. It was a slog the first couple of hours but then it opened up with cool bosses and weapons. The lighting effects are also cool nearly twenty years later. Great game.

Just finished Fire Emblem: Three Houses and what an excellent game. I certainly took my time with it as it took about 100 hours. There’s a ton of stuff to do for the social aspect and it can be very time consuming. Thankfully you can automate it so it goes by much quicker. Of course I chose to do it all manually which is what ate up most of my time but I enjoyed doing all the various things. There’s a lot to setting up character configurations and learning different skill paths and what not. Battles can take quite long as well especially in the later parts of the game. With different houses you can play as and different paths to take depending on your choices there’s a lot to the game for those who want to explore everything. I’ll definitely be playing more of it. 9/10

Completed Dex.

Really enjoyed it overall.

Totally unexpected quality 2D cyberpunk rpg.

There were a couple of quests I couldn't complete. For instance a character set off a self destruct before I could get the info needed.

Played over 18 hrs.

Wish there was DLC quests.

I front loaded my hacking and physical abilities. Finally upgraded guns near the end and have no one to use them on.

My Covid game, Assassin's Creed Origins, is finished. I think taking a big break from the series certainly helped me enjoy this game a lot. The setting and combat were fun, especially the boss battles. The game has one hell of a cameo/cross promotion from another series made by another developer.

Just finished Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and you can tell the developers loved the source material and the previous Konami games that they were paying homage to. Love the look of the game. Gameplay is very smooth. Music is pretty good but I think I still prefer the arcade and SNES Konami game music. The leveling up of characters, doing challenges in stages, and finding secret stuff puts a little more meat on the bone. It’s one of those arcade games that’s fun to pop in and play every once in awhile and have fun with. Very good game. 8/10

It's a really fun game. Takes me back to my arcade days where there was four of us bunched together at this one cabinet.

Booyakasha! I finished Shredder's Revenge. So much nostalgia. It's takes me back to that fateful day at the flea market where I finished the arcade game with my friends.

Completed Family Mysteries 3.
Far to many in depth puzzles one after the other. It laid off them in the final 3rd of the game.
Overall I can't endorse it because it's not what I'm looking forward too in these types of games. But puzzle lovers will like it.

Finished Part 1 of the Great Ace Attorney.
Remember this is two games in one.
Epic play through 35 hours for game 1.
Great overall, a little too wordy at times but mostly great. Can't wait to see where the 2nd game goes.
