Even though it's true that diabetes usually causes neuropathy, and that neuropathy can manifest itself in a number of ways including weird, non well defined pain, it is something that only develops after years of poor diabetes control, not as an isolated finding or in early stages.

Been getting cold hands and feet too and pins and needles in them. And pain in them too.
Vitamin D deficiency? I had been diagnosed with it in the past and took supplements for a long time, then gave up on them.
Maybe you're hurting a nerve. Why don't you take Vitamin B or B complex? If it improves, it's most likely a nerve issue.
