I've been playing for a bit now. You start out on some patch of land you can customize. There are 4 different styles to choose from, as you move forward you can order furniture and accessories to be made or get them as gifts. Some pieces will be needed to make animals visit you and stay around.
From your place you can move to several places, each one is small and with a couple characters at most, you can do different things at each of them. Fishing, fruit harvesting, bug collecting, the works. As you meet characters you will give them stuff in exchange for rewards, while also getting rewards for accomplishing other things (befriending people, selling or buying stuff, etc).
It looks and sounds like any AC game, but the scope is definitely smaller and there is much less interaction between you and other characters as well as between characters themselves. I like it but it only makes me want a proper AC game so much more.
Switch would be perfect for a real new AC game. They can rip off all the good shit from Stardew Valley and make the best AC ever.
How does a tiny screen phone game produce such gigantic pictures??

Your junk is about as big as these Animal Crossing figurines:

You need a new doctor.
I am playing this and realize it’s so similar to its predecessors, then wonder “ I used to pay for this?”
Playing this on my iPad and seems pretty fun. Never played an AC game before. I will proceed to spend loads of cash on this so Nintendo will never make another proper AC game on console again. Muahahaha!

Hopefully you pick up a mainline game sometime.
IF THERE IS A MAINLINE GAME EVER AGAIN
Kept playing it. Mechanically it is very similar to the actual games, but more limited (less fish and bug variety, no flower planting) in content. There is actually a robust progression system within your patch of land and the tent you can upgrade and pimp out with different associated structures, while inviting more and more campers to your place.
Also I crafted K.K. Slider's stool and now he's hanging around as well. Next step will be crafting Tom Nook's chair.
I found catman! I need to get him invited!
I have slowly grown fond of a few distinct campers. Just like in the actual games you start having favorites and don't want them to leave.
Lol
