That was an ok show, a bit dry perhaps. No big surprise announcements sadly.

Thanks to everyone here, it was awesome to chat with you all about the show. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Nyaa

The new trailer is giving me a Zelda 1 and 2 vibe.  I love it.

Responding to a post in the other forum, felt I should share this here:

Even I would say Zelda had a poor showing because of the way they showed it. Zelda is not flashy, it already has crap graphics when compared to any of these other big games so right at the start it is at a showcase disadvantage. Then instead of doing a big flashy trailer they do the boring Nintendo thing of two boring people slowly playing and explaining the game while doing horrible cuts constantly. The E3 demos worked because they were hour long play sessions which is where Zelda excels.

They didn’t show any of the puzzles, the mini games, the scope of the world, the dungeons, the bosses, the items; so it was pretty much missing everything that makes the game great and instead focused mostly on combat which everyone agrees is not Zelda’s strong suit.

That said what that video was poorly trying to demonstrate is that enemies are smart, that big guy carefully stepping around the bomb was awesome. Enemies hide and use camouflage. Enemy snipers can spot you from a distance and attack. It showed how the player can approach an area in two totally different ways and get by with some stealth action they create on their own. It showed the great physics at work by showing how you attack an enemy can influence the way they fall down. And best of all it showed damage! Those enemies were taking out more than 7 hearts with one hit! Maybe this game is actually hard!

It further shows how in this Zelda combat and enemies arent just going to be this thing that is simply a simple diversion in your path. In past Zelda games if you want to get to a place there are probably enemies in your way so you fight them and move on. Now enemies are part of the worlds systems, they have AI routines, they react to thing. Now you see enemies and you can avoid them, create distractions, find different ways to approach a situation. It’s a lot more in common with the Bethesda and MGS style of words. So you take that and put it into the Zelda game structure which to me is the ultimate form of game design and now you have a dream game.

So it had plenty of info just very poorly showcased and unlike the Mass Effect trailer which was a bulletpoint of all the awesome things you do in the game that Zelda showcase was a tiny tiny slice of that game.

Death Stranding looks really interesting I have no idea what it is about but it is Hideo Kojima and it features Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen.

Zelda looks fun and Shovel Knight Specter of Torment looks great as well.

Uncharted 4 winning best narrative is ridiculous at best. But on the plus side actual good vdieo games won the genre awards, and Uncharted didn't. So that's a plus.
