This video is pretty incredible. It charts 40 years of Tokyo music in a super cool video.
Have you guys ever seen clips from this Korean show called The Call?
It's pretty cool, they seem to bring together a lot of solo artists to do one off performances together.
This clip is pretty special, Gray, Loco, San E and more
This one is crazy fun, Suran, but I don't know who the male artist is, he's pretty awesome, like a Korean Bruno Mars.

Can you guys identify him?
EDIT: He is Kim Bum Soo, ballad singer.
Not much activity here lately.
This music video is really great
It sounds like traditional japanese music and the video is very serene. Very folksy.
What have you guys been listening to lately?
I've been catching up with my Kisum. This track is called Finding Differences
So what would your top 5 tracks look like in regards to Asian music?
I can probably pick a top 3, unranked. But I would struggle with the sheer choice.
One of them would be Twenty by Ovan feat Shaun
It's about a dude telling a chick that he just wants to be with her. It's really peppy with a great beat and production behind it.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile^The video is fun but the song would drive me slowly insane. Earworm territory.
Do I dare revive this? As I've started learning Mandarin, I have Chinese pop now: Faye Wong.

Sounds like the start of a western movie. That video seems quite old.
Some of my favourite songs are:
J.Sheon Specially Made https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Amz4fHUapLk
I've gone next level in regards to my Korean music listening. Watching a lot of Korean TV shows, some subtitled, others not.
On Ariang, which is a news channel for overseas they have several programs available in English shown every week.
- Simply Kpop - 1 hour a week of live stage performances (some lipsynched)
- I'm Live - A half hour one episode a week usually bands or real musicians performing live in front on an audience as close as 1m away. Very good show
- Pops In Seoul - 5 episodes a week, half an hour long each. A mix of interviews, live performances and music videos. Sometimes good, sometimes good to record and fast forward through.
On youtube there is better stuff but not always complete episodes or even in English. What is good is when people upload live performances in short song segments.
There is:
- Everysing/Fantastic Duo - where a music star sings with a variety of performers at the same time, some fantastic performances here
- The Call - where music stars collaborate on new songs, very funny and some great team ups and performances https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__66p5S_-bw
- The Unit - where former boy/girl band members get a second chance, a mind boggling performace of the worlds largest group https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R3YWW5ayrU
- I can See your Voice - a show for the tone deaf where the celebrity panel has to guess whether a person is a bad or good singer. Either hilarious or brilliant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2Mg0BNSoSs
- Produce 101 - Seems to be a boy band generator, not sure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7lPWLr-rJI
- Unpretty Rapstar where female rappers compete here are the girls fangirling over Dean, an awesome R&B/rap artist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ungOh0oBFAY
- Show Me the Money that stars all the big rap stars and there are a lot of great ones in Korea like pH1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0qPwAoczgA
Chinese pop is absolutely bonkers.
Exhibit A. Her music videos are all examples of the sort of madness that goes on in music for children, are straight up softcore pornography or advertisements...or all of the above at once.
Exhibit B. No comment necessary.
Exhibit C. Namewee is Malaysian, but Chinese Malaysian, and this song is very apropos. It's also highly amusing. Amusing enough to get him arrested.*
Bonus Japanese highbrow insanity:
*He was probably arrested for something else, I can't remember, but just watch it.
Bonus animals:
Dogs.
Here's some cool stuff I've been watching lately.
Won Fu, a Chinese singer, love the video, looks a bit like Japan? Breezy acoustic song
9m88 Walking towards me is a jazzy soulful song shot like its in the 80s. So good
I recently discovered this band, Aldious they were in my recommendations on YouTube. The singer of this song had to retire last December due to ear related health issues. They were founded in 2008.
This is their song "We Are" from last year's album "We Are"
Aldious is an all female Japanese Metal group.
Here is "Play" by Band-Maid it is the live version
I like hearing string arrangements in modern songs.
I prefer the Band Maid version, also the outfits.
Have you tried the Oral Cigarettes?

With Band-Maid the gimmick of the outfits came about because the Rhythm guitarist/singer got the idea to start the band while she was working at a Maid Café.

It's funny, but now they have to stick with it.
I heard an awesome new track from Zion T, one of my favourite Kpop artists.
I listened to it on a loop for 30 mins.
Lovebites Shadowmaker Live at Bloodstock 2018
They're an all girl Power Metal band from Japan.
The singer Asami sounds better here than on the studio version in my opinion.
So there is this awesome song with great lyrics.
This was the original version, but I don't like it: 【Kanzaki Iori】Hated by life itself
It's this version I love, a Mafumafu version which I think means someone covered it.

You have to listen to it with the subtitles enabled.
It's a sad kind of desperate song, but doesn't sound it. And by the end it's quite uplifting. The girl singing it has an awesome feeling of longing and desperation in her voice. She sounds a lot like Yorushika.
