My stereo is a 2005 Sony. It does 7.1 but I only have a 5.1 setup...7.1 imo is overkill and who has room for that many speakers? It has 4 HDMI hookups on the back, so I run the out to TV and plug everything right into the stereo. It automatically sends video to TV and audio through the reciever. I actually need a new one though, this one is starting to die on me. Every once in awhile the center channel craps out. I guess the Solder joints inside melted down, kind of like the early 360 models.
Yeah, was not boasting or anything, I was lucky to be in a position to design it the way I wanted when I built the house (that room has 6 four-port power plugs all connected to a kill switch that you hit while entering the room -- and the six overhead lights are on two different switches and are dimmiable, so you don;t have light in the foreground, only on where you are sitting -- if you choose). I only posted it since you asked, and don't mean to show anyone up. I know on the scale of possibilities my set-up is far from the best out there.
Thanks for the info on the stereo situation. I have to say, the range of choices and information out there is overwhelming me. The local stores don;t have much expertise or range either.
With what happened to my family, I guess I once again am in the possibility to make a game room in the attic. It's completely under the roof, but there's still a useable area of over 4 by 4 meters. Even if i'd chose to do so, no way do I have the funds or the actual games to match what Aspro has put up.
Aspro, you're setup is awesome man definitely glad you posted it. Its inspiring. Lol
I love the way you have the classic & modern side by side.

I still have a project: I didn't manage to finish our new bathroom in time Besides, should we decide to go for a third child, we'll be needing that room in a couple of years anyway.
aspro said:So are they basically hubs, where you plug all you hdmi consoles into it and then they just have normal old fashioned speakers?
Well you really need to get a good balanced setup, 2 large front floor standing, to rear sats, one center and sub at min. Quality speakers is important. Your sound will only be as good as what you listen on. I will put a list together of my Neo carts just for shits and giggles LOL!
Aspro if you get lucky you can find a 7800 with a Coleco adapter !! That plays all Coleco carts not easy to find. If I had mine I would send it to you for nothing. Sadly it was lost in the move here 5 years ago
Ravenprose said:Whoa! I've never heard of a Coleco adapter for the 7800! That's awesome! I've heard of the 2600 adapter for the Coleco, but not that one.
My confusion sorry I'm thinking about the Coleco adapter for 2600 I guess I'm getting old.

No worries. I do that all the time too, Bear.

TV size?
I sit about the same distance as Aspro....I like being close, its more immersive IMO. If I sit too far away, I find myself getting more easily distracted from the game.
For Speakers, I have 2 Large JBL floor speakers as my main left and right units. In the back, I used to have Bose bookshelf speakers, but I replaced those with Pioneer floor standing speakers. They're only about 3/4 the size of the JBL's, and don't sound nearly as good...but for rear speakers they do the job perfectly since that's just for ambience anyway. I've got a nice Polk Audio subwoofer, and for my center channel I actually use one of the Bose bookshelf speakers that I used to use as my rears...and honestly, it sounds better than the real center channel speaker I used to have, which was also a Bose.
Ravenprose said:Do you have an Atari 7800, Aspro? I don't see one. I wish I still had mine (it died ). It had my favorite versions of Commando and Galaga.
I do, but needs a new power cable.

Yeah, those are very difficult to find. I've heard of a mod that allows you to use a Sega Genesis power cable instead. Would require soldering, though.

I have 4-5 electricians in my family, so I am hoping they will be able to fix the one I have.
When I visit Australia I will crash at aspro's house and stay there for a couple days weeks months to play some stuff, living off food stolen from his fridge.
Also NEOGEO? More like NOGO huehuehuehue (expensive carts).
Yeah I know leave me alone with my crappy jokes. .__.

I recountered here, or on the podcast, I once let a co-worker housesit for me when I was in California and he actually took a week off so he could do nothing but play old games he always wanted to try like Snatcher and Panzer Dragoon Saga.
Class act, he even re-stocked the fridge.
On the opposite side, I once had a house guest OVERWRITE SAVES, DRINK MOST OF MY BEER and OPEN GAMES THAT HAD BEEN SEALED. The fucking loser and his chica actually extended their holiday so they could spend an extra week and a half at my house WHILE I WORKED!

50 inch, which I figure is about 20 inches too small.
