I finally got my development permission on my 4th day; My 2nd day the Town Hall was closed for the Summer Solstice. Tomorrow I finally get to go to the island. Also tomorrow my ordinace goes into effect and my bridge will be completed.
I just need an artwork to donate to the museum then I can get the 2nd floor since I have the other requirements atleast 20 exhibits with something in every area of the museum except artworks.
Last night I got a badge for catching 50% of the fish.
The Axe and the Watering Can are sold at The Gardening Shop run by Leif that opens up on Main Street. Seeds are sold there, as well.
Save the Ores and Gems that you find by breaking open Rocks; these are what they use to do Furniture Customization in ReTail.
A Shoe Store by the name of Kicks opens up on Main Street too. You buy Shoes and Socks there.

My Nintendo collection is well under way: I have The Hero's (Link's) Hat and Pants. I have a Super Star from the Mario Series. I have an Arwing and a Blue Pikmin hat. They sell a Helmet at The Able Sister's store that **looks** just like Captain Falcon's yet it's not called that...? What is it with Nintendo completely dis-owning the F-Zero franchise? I don't get it!
Kinda fitting that I am getting Link's stuff first; my Town Tune is from The Legend of Zelda's Overworld Song and my Town Flag is a TriForce on a green field. Prolly shoulda just named my town Hyrule!
My mom keeps on asking me why my character is dressed like an elf!

My town flag was a TriForce but now it is a sword I made that kind've looks like the guilded sword from Majora's Mask but with a black blade with red (Ruby) triangles instead of gold triangles.
My Town Tune is Bolero of Fire I still need to finish it because it is just the first two bars of music and the final 8 notes are Zzzs.
I'm starting to see the differences here. The island, well I didn't play the cube game so this is new to me.
There are tons of insects and fish here, you can rake in the cash from them or fill out the museum with animals year long. Seems to make the game easier for people if they want it. This being my 3rd AC title I finally feel I have a realistic chance of getting every insect and fish in the game. There are minigames to earn medals which you can spend on special island items. But you need to win like 5 or 6 of these games to get 40 medals which earns you like one item
Also got my development permit, seems the townsfolk will never donate enough cash so you have to pay for 90% of the cost for building each structure. I picked the campsite.
Also I can see how the ordinance works, there are 4:
- Beautiful town = no weeds, flowers never die
- Early Bird = shops open earlier, residents are active earlier
- Night Owl = the reverse of that^
- Wealthy town = you get far more cash for selling items
So they seem to have made the game easier to enjoy and see everything should you cave into temptation and enact these or use the island heavily.

For the 2nd floor I forgot one prerequisite I have to talk to Blathers for 14 days in a row.
But yeah I caught 50% of the fish in my encyclopedia. I had nothing much to do on my 2nd day so I did nothing but fish.

So is the island a good or bad thing? You can burn through all the fish and insects in weeks? I just came back from the island, nabbed some Durian.
Nintyfan, what's the deal with the Happy Home showcase? Mine is always empty. I assumed it will eventually be filled with friends house via online? Will there be other houses for those without many online friends?
I think the game only grabs the info once you meet up in game.

I thought it was only for if you street passed somebody; After you street pass them their house will be in the Happy Home Showcase. But Nintendo did say they will include spotpass for the North American and Europe versions of the game because Streetpass isn't really viable in the west.
Edit* In North America I just got Reggie's house because it is available through spotpass.

Maybe but there are still some that aren't available until Winter. I don't like Time Travelling in Animal Crossing the last time I did that was on the GCN version.
I didn't go to the Island until this morning; I got enough medals to get a wetsuit so I can dive in my town.
The fruit I have in my town are Coconuts (got it from the island), Lychees (somebody gave me one but it is also on the island), Peaches (my starting fruit), and Cherries (I got them from Isabelle)
The Coconut, Lychees, and Cherries are still growing.
It's raining today. I cracked out the paw print umbrella. My gardening shop just opened The campsite opened too but you can't do anything in it. It's purely decorative.
My campsite opened today aswell; My Gardening Shop will open tomorrow.
Just started construction on my Dream Suite. I know this has something to do with visiting other people's homes online, just not sure what!

You can visit other peoples towns without them having the gate open; Everything you do in the town in through the dream suite isn't permanent.
I still need to get that but I have to catch Isabelle sleeping at her desk first and she is always awake when I get to the Town Hall.
This is a video from that somebody made visiting GXville (André from GameXplains town)

Love the little features, looking inside people drawers can unearth an item for you to keep. You can donate or assess multiple fossils/animals at once. There are tons of tours on the island.
Scuba Diving is a neat little addition!
The game has such an incredibly designed Reward system where they dole out juuuuust enough each day to get you to come back for more!
Thank GOD for this game right now! YET ANOTHER Nintendo Sponsored "once in a lifetime" family moment made possible by one of their games! Beyond that, what a great, non-stressing, slow but steady, distraction from life that somehow manages to be a MAJOR social event at the same time. Really nothing else like it out there. Came at JUST the right time!
I look forward to playing this each and every day. It's so peaceful and happy and little things like the weather, a day of rain makes it worthwhile. I also found a good use of 3DS' in built game note system. All the requests citizens make you can note down in game by pressing the home button and clicking game notes.
The fuck! Someone just set up a tent at the campsite! It's Hamlet the Hamster He says he ran for hundreds of miles and ended up here. Little bastard made me play this 5 chance game where he tries to screw you on the price for certain items.
Just be cool to have a place to chat about random things.
