Saw 4 eps from Eden Of The East: the series. Very good so far.
12 people are given a special phone and 8 billion yen to change the fate of the country or die.
I took the plunge and bought Claymore on Bluray. And Samurai 7 after only watching 4 episodes. If Eden of the East finishes strongly that might be a buy too, I've seen 8 out of 11 episodes.
Raven you might want to watch Avatar the Last Airbender, it's probably the best anime I've seen outside of FMA Brotherhood. Even though it's a western developed Nickelodeon show. The folow up Legend of Korra is good too.
Finished Eden of the East series. It's only 11 episodes.
Great series. This feels like what Steins Gate should have been, it's short, sweet and has a great little conspiracy story simmering in the background that pays off in the end too. There are two movies that follow on directly from the end of the series.
Will be buying this methinks.
It's a Com-Rom, more comedy with light romance elements and a great wiping ones memory storyline. There is one hell of a end episode gag in there that almost makes the whole series worthwhile by itself.
I also updated my list in the opening post of the thread of best anime. Here's the top ones from best downwards. I think I may move original FMA down the list once I finish my 2nd series run through.

Saw Eden of the East movie 1, as a movie it's a failure but what it actually is, is the next 3 episodes of the series smushed together into an hour or so. It's pretty slow going and they pointlessly reset Takizawas memory. But it's still decent, now lets hope movie two wraps things up in pleasing way.
Samurai 7 update: it's pretty good, nothing outstanding so far but it's like a solid 8/10 game. Love the character designs.
Samurai 7 has hit the halfway point and the shit has hit the fan with the battle. Really went up in my estimation, up until then it was an extremely likable, slow introduction, now it's actually getting great. With Samurai slashing up huge, talking Xenoblade like robots up.
Also I think this is the only show I've seen where I really appreciate the character designs - they are very very similar to FMA Brotherhood and Sword of the Stranger and yet very unique.
Each model is imbued with personality that suits their character and looks very distinctive compared to each other and also isn't the usual big eyes, small nose, weird ribbon hairdo anime style.
Also Bleach season 13 (series 12 uk) the Zanpakto season is the best series of Bleach so far. I don't know what happened but they've finally distilled the essence of the best elements of Bleach and cut the fat to make a consitently great season of the show. I also saw Hellverse before this season and it seems to me that this is the turning point as you can recognise the music they culled from the movie to use in the series. Awesome stuff.
Those two on the bottom right in the second pic look pretty similar to each other. 
That's Bleach, and they are twins.

I spoke too soon on this. Yes, most of the 34 episodes are awesome, but after the proper story finishes they pad out the next 10 or so episodes with fluff. Bleach has got this weird thing going on where they rest the main story then later continue it. So I guess they were waiting to make the next mainline story effort. I guess it's because they are waiting for the Kubo to finish the manga while they were making it.
Anyhow the majority of season 13 is great.

GG, I finally watched Redline. I was pretty disappointed. Looked amazing, but the characters and story were flimsy and the ending very abrupt. Plus, the whole military bullshit seemed like the lamest excuse just to ruin Virgin Rapist's Car, and fuck up the flow of the race (the first race was so much better than the final which should have been much more intense, right?). On the bright side, I watched Trava: Fist Planet (wtf were they thinking with that title?) afterwards which, while also having an abrupt ending, was fun beyond just the animation. It also fucked up the final confrontation, though: this time literally skipping it completely lol.
That's a shame, I loved it, short and sweet story, bags of style and eye searing races. I loved how it ended too. And it felt very retro too.

The flashback stuff was especially awesome for the retro feel. The scene with the gal crashing looked so great. I probably went into it expecting a little too much.

I just rented it out of the blue, so I had no expectations. I tend to like anything which reminds me of the 80s/90s movies I used to watch like Wicked City, Fist of the North Star etc. I liked the military interferring in the race, as you said it messed up the flow but I think that was point to make it more outrageous. But yes the first race is awesome, I love the little touches like the racers eyes flicking side to side, watching each other, the way the characters deformed with more speed. The sheer detail in the visuals it looked like high concept art. Loved the retro voice acting, voice distortion etc.
Watched Berserk last night.
After the movies this comes off like a cheap 80s version. Yes I know this was done first, this series was made in 1998 though and it looks and feels like it's 1984.
The animation feels exceedingly cheap sometimes, they frequently use static artwork with a panning camera with audio over the top. Sometimes it's so bad it's like watching someone thrusting A4 sheets of paper artwork, on a desk in front of you.
Anyhow aside from those moments, and 80s character models aside it's pretty decent. Unlike the movies this starts off in the future with a haggard and brutal Guts facing off with demons. Then it goes back to Guts joining the Band of the Hawk and the first 5 episodes cover up the point where Guts defends the rear and becomes a hero amongst the group. And it's pretty much exactly like the movies scene for scene.
Anyhow, seems decent, I'm hopeful as some of the demon stuff in the movies was not explained properly.
The English voice acting is sometimes hammy though.

YEEEEEEEEEESSSS, this happened last night. The Zodd episode was so much better than it was in the movie. When I saw it in the movie I was like: who is this, what's this shit he's saying, why is this thing here? In series it's all set up logically, pre-warned and executed brilliantly. 
There's hope for this series yet.
Also got Claymore, Raven you might want to think about Blu ray, it comes with an awesome booklet with concept drawings and interviews and character profiles, I wish they did this for all animes.
Anyone tried watching all of the Fist of the North Star? I loved the movie in the 80s. Tried watching the series before digitally, gave up a few episodes in.
There is so much content it's confusing. There's the original 152 episode series which you can get on a 21 dvd set (USA) or a 24 dvd set (China - cheaper - english subbed)
Then there is a series of movies I never heard of till today:
Fist of the North Star: The Legends of the True Savior (真救世主伝説 北斗の拳, Shin Kyūseishu Densetsu Hokuto no Ken;text-decoration:none;">?)[1] is a Japanese animated film series produced by TMS Entertainment and North Stars Pictures based on the manga Fist of the North Star written by Buronson and illustrated by Tetsuo Hara. The films are an updated re-imagining of the original story narrated in the manga, including additional detail expanding of the story, modern artwork and animation, new characters, as well as minor alterations to some events. The series is composed of three theatrical films and two OVAs.
Then there is this 3 parter floating about, a new endevour: In 2003, a three-episode original video animation (OVA) mini-series titled New Fist of the North Star was produced by OB Planning. based on a 1996 Hokuto no Ken novel Jubaku no Machi. An English dub version was produced by ADV Films in 2004.
Then there is the Legends of the Dark King: A Fist of the North Star Story (天の覇王 北斗の拳 ラオウ外伝, Ten no Haō Hokuto no Ken Raō Gaiden;text-decoration:none;">?, roughly translated as "The Conqueror of the Heavens: Fist of the North Star Raoh Side-Story") which was made into a 13 episode series telling how Raoh came to power before the events of the 80s movie.
So you've got:
- 80s movie
- Original 152 episode anime
- 3 part OVA
- 3 films + 2 OVA
- 13 episode series about Raoh
Saw the first 4 eps of Ergo Proxy. In a society with companion robots there is some creature/robot called Proxy, 2 actually which break out of some lab and start causing chaos. It was hell even making it through the first episode as it was woefully put together and edited, very hard to follow. I had to watch it twice, with subtitles. So the robots are called Reivs and there is some council made up of... statues who occasionally move their heads.
It seems okay so far, very Ghost in the Shell-ish but also dreadfully serious and somewhat boring. I'll see where it goes.
Also I learned that Eden of the East has 11 eps and 3 movies, I thought it was 2. So I have one more movie to look forward too.

Oh yeah, Berserk has been nigh on identical to the 2 movies so far so I'm really wondering why they bothered making the movies. There are some minor differences but you have to look really hard to spot them. They even use the same English voice actors.
Man going from the awesomeness of season 12 UK (actually season 13) back to season 11 uk actually season 12 is painful. More of the absurd comedy bullshit messing up the confrontations.
