I'm not a huge fan of Nintendoland, it's great as a whole with multiplayer but with no online it feels neutered in some way and you miss that aspect of the game.
However, over time I have come to appreciate its visuals. It's kinda weird at first seeing Nintendoland most people's reaction was LOL DIS IS DA BEST Wii U CAN DO?
Now I've played a few U games, I think it holds up rather well on the aspects I like in visuals. It's clean, crisp, nice frame rate, shadowing, artstyle and has a consistency about its texture work with nice reflections too. When you've played a bit you can unlock trophies and view them in first person which shows the quality of the models, they are actually rather nice and even on a scaled up 1080p picture, it mostly retains it's crisp edges.
I also think it's a good indication of what Nintendo will or can do with franchises like Mario, Kart, Animal Crossing et al.
Here are my pics, bear in mind the captures are sub-HD and lower detail:
My new vehicle in Lego city
You can go back to old areas and unlock secret areas.
I tried to grab some NFS Most Wanted pics to show the textures, not always successfully.
Remember the picture capture is lower detail and it looks much better on screen.
The road detail is great
Some rock formations look super detailed
If you think they are not that impressive, remember it's an open world game and these are applied to the whole city.
Some of my images I like posting screenshots of the Koopalings and posting how they got their names.
I still need three more images.
Dvader said:All my images would be showing how much better I am at Rayman than the rest of you.
You are a score attack fiend. You should at least grab your Mii to use as an avatar off Miiverse, it's the perfect size.
More pics from my Legoland adventures, 46 hours in now.
A Lego Ming Dynasty gate. Yeeeeeeeeeeeees.
Love Chinatown.
WTF! Heeeelp!
This is Jack Burton coming to you on a dark and stormy night....
Dude that's just WRONG, there is a split in his underwear.
My new favourite character
This is the part I haaaaaaaaaaaaate....
NOTE: the character pics are from the gamepad screen, SD 480p max.
WTH? Near 60 hours into the game and I went to use a train station only to find for the first time, a guy using the machine and in a lizard suit no less. He was hogging it so I had to shoot him to get him off it.
The 80's.
Freeze sucker!
YOU DARE ATTACK THE UNKNOWN WRESTLER!! YOUR FIRE IS LIKE THE BUZZING OF FLIES, I AM VIGGO!
The mine, second mission is when I realised the game is probably a lot better than I thought it might be. Nice texture work too.
Wish all the textures in the game could be like this. There is a big difference between the open world and individual levels.
If you unlock all the train stations you get... a steam train. YES.
Yeah that's right, I'm just riding down the leanind tower of pisa with a frickin jetpack on my back.
One bold step for man etc.
Heh heh. There is some tasty Nintendo morsels in the game. Secret of course.
Wasn't there an 80s movie like this?
Song - in Chinatown. I get it TT.
More pics. I am 100% complete in 67 hours. Love this game, sad to see it end finally but I have found something else to do in the game. With all all the characters unlocked now I can use Miiverse to capture witty pictures.
Love my statue. 100%!
Is this the chicken from Ocarina of Time?
Where's Kevin Costner when you need him?
For the Americans, this is what London looks like.
Why must they hide the signs to Rivendall?
The attention to detail in this game, man, go into the corner of the dojo and you can barely see this, then pan the camera manually and you can see this exquisite paper painting.
There is a tub that you can ride down hills like a soapbox racer, tons of fun. No throttle or brake.
Velcome to my castle, aahahahahaa. Von! Two! Three! Vour!
Hope this food be ready soon. FOR THE CAPTAIN'S TABLE
Come fly with Lego airlines, it's a bumpy ride, you'll be bricking it.
The things I do for Sparta....
100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100%
Thanks foolz, the game isn't hard but getting 100% is the big challenge here, in most open world games I don't bother, the stuff is fairly rare the wandering is aimless and it all feels a bit pointless. This game makes collecting an obsession and it's largely because of the tools they give you. In the Police Station there is a giant screen reminding you of the the hours played and the percentage of completion.
Each time you collect something your character does this fist in the air mario jump to signal an achievement and the game on screen ticks off and tells you how many more of each task you have to do. The game gives you this Metroid Prime scanner which shows where stuff is, but not how to get to it so you have to work out how. And then there is also the giant Wii U pad screen touch screen map, zoomable with clickable icons telling you what you are missing and from which area. You also get rewards, each time you find a token you unlock a new character or vehicle and then the red bricks unlock game enhancements like a gun that can blow up a car in one shot, or the ability to ram other cars off the road in a super powered mode. Even at the end they reward you with a gold statue. They've also made the game so that there is plenty to do once you've completed the main missions. I'm sad it's over, it was a blast.
My weekend's exploits.
Strike a pose for the fans Chase, the bathroom can wait....
Scrubs
All aboard for Hogwarts, children.
Which way to Berlin?
Francois, I believe it needs more... let's just face it your style is too statuesque.
So Blackbeards treasure sunk here huh? Is it a giant face comb?
Just don't move Chase. Not even for Zombies and u.
I'm no good at this.
It'll get easier Chase....
Pick me up in an hour B.A, this director has no idea what he's in for.
I knew I was famous, but this is ridiculous.
Not sure if serious...
Night at the museum. Only daytime...
So brother, where be da pillaging? Brother? Ah the old silent treatment...
Not sure this was a good idea...
Why do I let my manager book these publicity stunts?
These humans took my ship and mounted it on a flag pole? That's SICK!
The Governer's on the train. We get him and we'll be rolling in gold nuggets, Horsie.
Father! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Was playing Trine 2, these screens don't do the game justice.
In the Directors cut the transition from 2D, the camera pans right into the cutscenes, looks very impressive.
Best looking room in the game probably, the textures U is using on some of these Goblin Menace sections are nuts.
Touch screen controls are boss in this game. Wiimote I hear is even better.
Couple of screens from Ass creed 3 and one of Trine 2.
I did like the lighting in this bit but the pic capture from this game is bad, looks different to how it does on tv.
It's a fairly ugly game overall but this is my favourite texture, the muddy boot marks in the ground.
Clash of the titans.
If you own a Wii U, hitting the HOME button during gameplay grabs a screencap, which you can then either post to Miiverse or directly upload to an image host and post the screen in this thread.
To get an HD capture simply hit the HOME button during gameplay, open the INTERNET BROWSER, go to an image upload site like abload.de, minus.com or imgur and click UPLOAD, then you can choose to post either the tv image or the wii u gamepad image.
To post pics to MiiVERSE which are all in standard definition:
My personal Miiverse images from Lego City
The last mission in Lego City Undercover is epic.
