Well, first of all, it was a big wake-up call. I really had not idea that the card was THAT old.  Secondly I thought (naively), "Small indy game, should be no problem".

I've tried to relate in thinking, but can't really.  I've always associated PC gaming with meeting requirements.  If I were to not think about my hardware for a decade, I wouldn't expect to run anything new.  Also harder to relate because I know you're not braindead about computers either.  I think I'll chop this one up to be another aspro moment.

Sounds like you're looking to convince yourself to get something new.  Thinking that'll be soon?

Aspro has a point about certain games. I remember dark void had stupid requirements, it's an NES game dammit.

I got Bastion today (aspirational purchase for new PC).

Hey Steamers, is there a way to see how big the download will be before purchase? I notice that some games will list the amount of space needed on the HDD post-install, which gives a general idea, but there seems to be no way to determine the size of the download until after you have purchased the game.

Any help?

Apart from googling no there isn't. I think Bastion is only about a gig, but I'm not sure about that.

He's probably referring to Dark Void Zero. Dark Void with PhysX is one of the most demanding games you can play.

Second, I'm looking at Theif. What's the difference between all the versions? Is Theif Gold the way to go?

The metal age (second one) is regarded as the best of them all, provided you can stomach badly aged 3D graphics. Deadly shadows is the most recent one and is supposedly pretty good as well.

Too bad there was a thief daily deal during this sale the whole deal of games was 5 bucks or so. I'd advise to refrain from buying in case tomorrow is an encore day of sorts. If it doesn't show up again, you can still picke them up at this discount tomorrow as well.

Thief Gold is Thief: The Deadly Shadows but with some extra content.  Thief II is naturally the sequel.

Wait a minute, I thought Thief gold was the first 1 with extra levels? Deadly Shadows is the Third installment.

The game looks fine with some minor .ini hacks.

Sorry, you're right.  I was mixing up the two.  The first one being Dark Project.

Perhaps. I looked around this weekend and my options were extremely limited, most of the big box stores focus on lap-tops, and I want a desktop. I'm in the early stages at lloking at graphics card standards etc...

Trying to get it to work now.
