Oh dear.
Slowly wading through ME2. Not only I am compelled to doing sidequests (even more now that I got the Kasumi, Overlord and Shadow Broker DLC), I'm even compelled to scan planets all over again (I scanned them all in my first playthrough) thanks to the faster and improved scanner. Still 3 more members to pick up, but I already did a couple loyalty missions.

Is it normal for every one but one team mate to die? They killed almost every team member I liked including the two I used throughout the game 
I tried like hell to get them to kill Miranda, which they finally did.
Thank you also to Steel and Archie who initially encouraged me to get the Mass Effect games, and Steel and Vader for giving me advice early on in Mass Effect to keep me going.

Damn Aspro, no you are supposed to try to save everyone. Did you not do the loyalty missions?

How much did you upgrade the ship?
I got all out of there alive in my first playthrough, dunno about the second since it's in progress right now, but I guess it all depends on whether you did loyalty missions (all of them), upgraded your ship and chose carefully where to put each teammate during the final standoff. There are places better suited for teammates with engineering/tech skills and other ones which are best suited for people with high leadership.
Oh well. It did not take away from the game. If anything it makes me care less about ME 3 now Jack and Mordin are dead.

They don't upgrade automatically unless you pick that option each time level goes up. That goes for you and all teammates.
Not unlike the time I played Oblivion without sleeping (beat game as level 4).
