Vade, were you able to play this file in it's current format? I am not only unable to convert it, but also cannot get it to play with anything at all (so far).

Yeah, I knew you could not convert it, I just didn't know if you could play it. I'm still working on it, there are some things I can try.

57 is up.  Some things:

+ Iga, please go back and listen to your recording and see what you think was causing the various sound problems you had so that for the next recording we can hear you properly.  There was some buzz, and other times you were very quiet, so I had to amplify your comments -- it still didn't sound good which is a shame because you have a lot to contribute to the cast.

+ The various file shuffling wasn't too bad. If you were on the cast, go listen to it and I think you'll be amazed.  Vader... man... I think what happened is you probably ran out of hard drive space and that stopped the recording.  To record the master, you do it inside of Skype.  Yoda should be able to instruct all of us as to how to do that for when he is next not available.

+ With Yoda working and Dvader and Jamie not regularly available at the current recording time, would a move to when it was recorded this week work better (Prime time Friday night East Coast of North America/ Saturday afternoon in Australia?).

+ I was really glad that Yoda got a cast off, though his presence was missed, Foolz, Vader and Iga made up for it.

I wish I could talk about the content on the cast, but I've had enough of it for today Nyaa

The problem with Saturdays is that I'm COMPLETELY unavailable. Though I do suppose if it means we're getting the podcasts out on a consistent basis, getting more people on and even getting them out much earlier than we do - I'm willing to give up my spot.

^Well that won't work then.  I think because of work considerations we essentially have from Friday Night East Coast North America until Sunday Night Melbourne time right? About a 64 hour window when you take the dateline into consideration.  Somewhere in there the schedules should match up.

So what time is everyone consistently available? At the moment I can do most days at a similar time to what we've been doing.

Listened to the podcast.

To get the generalities out of the way.  Big thanks to Foolz for picking up the slack, and it's been too long hearing vader, and I think this was Iga's best 'cast.  It's been a while since I've gotten to listen to one, and it's just a good feeling to know I had a part in starting what is really this well done.

On Linux, it's named after Linus Torvalds, who wrote the initial kernel.  Linus can be pronounced multiple ways depending on the language, but Linux, he says, is always L-ih-nucks (as Dvader and Iga both said).  Linux provides you a full computer; it's an operating system.  Multimedia editing it would work well with, or running a media server.  Whatever you want with a computer.

NPD, I said God of War 3 would clear a million, and argued over it.  That and FFXIII was all me.

"If there's a list, Pachter can read it" LOL

On art, the problem comes in when you try to suggest anything creative qualifies as art.  Words have meaning.  It's common when people argue about religion or gods.  For example, pantheism -- the universe is god.  Then why don't you just call it the universe?  Same here, if you mean something is creative, call it creative, not art.

I don't consider theatrical movies art.  Or music, or novels.  Here's my definition:

Art - a visual work.  An image whose value is derived from its visual aspects.

Art is art.  Music is music.  Books are books.  Games are games.

Otherwise, Subway is right.  They have sandwich artists.

On scheduling, its just happened that I've worked on Sundays the past couple weeks.  It's not a set schedule, at least not yet.  That should be worked out in the next week or two.

You should have head what was left out. I kid. Well, not really. Hrm  Okay, I kid.

A thought I had remembering the cast was the success of the God of War Collection and Vader's point that we'll see more of them.  My guess is Ico/ Shadows of the Colossus would be the next logical choice for SCEA, just before the release of their next game.

Oh yeah, and on the third party games.  I'm glad you eventually got to it, but if Resident Evil 5 had been Wii exclusive, that would have definitely done it.  The reason you can't see any third-party games doing these great sales is that we've come, justifiably so, to expect B-level efforts from third-parties.

The best efforts are niche titles that happen to strike a chord with a concept, not blockbusters.  Regardless of preference, that's why you don't see it -- any franchises, even genres, associated with mainstream success get gimped throwaway versions.

My pleasure, though I definitely probably could've done a bit better this time around in terms of hosting!
