Yeah, I'm not time traveling either; that hurts the game more than animal tracks does. I'm going to put down some pathways, and walk on those for the most part. Hopefully, it'll grow back.

Nintendo really needs to patch this game ASAP. I can't believe they thought this would be a good idea.

Uh, I'm not a fan of patching but this sounds like it could be a very small download to fix, just stop the code from tracking your paths.

But nintendo would never do it. Best you can hope for is in a years time some special item appears in the mail via WC24 that is like magic restore in a can. But it will never happen.

I agree. I really don't like patches either, but in this modern age of complex games, it's sometimes necessary to patch games to fix problems. I hate when they release unfinished games and try to patch them later, though.

In this case, I'd like to see Nintendo patch Animal Crossing. Maybe they could do something like you're saying which would be preferable. On the Gamecube version, there was a ghost that showed up at midnight if you had a lot of weeds in your town. If you found that ghost, he'd ask you to play a game with him, and if you were successful, then he'd remove all of the weeds from your town for free. Maybe Nintendo could bring this ghost back, and have him restore all of our grass? It would be a fun addition, but as you said, they'd never do it.

I never heard of that. That's a great solution. Your pic finally loaded in the time travel post. Holy hell, so I have a desert to look forward to?

I read some guy say that you could dig up the tracks and when you covered them up it would look better. NO, no one else says it works. He also said if you plant flowers there and then pick them up and plant them somewhere else it will look better. No one else says it works. I started only running on the bare bits so the rest of the town will look okay.

Read this:

http://www.animalcrossingcommunity.com/Topic/3158016/4/Getting_your_grass_back_you_CAN_do_it_

"Kobayashi says that it takes about a fortnight before a faint path becomes visible, and Moro adds that a clear trail will have appeared after two months, but that grass grows back more speedily if surrounded by grass and trees."

"The following pictures show a study done where the user kept off the grass for five days. Flowers were near the affected area so this may have sped up the process?

Examples:
Original Wear http://kamek.piiym-net.com/accf/RUU_0102.jpg
Five Days Later http://kamek.piiym-net.com/accf/RUU_0107.jpg

Yes, it's going to take a long time to regrow, but if you want it back, there is a way. Certainly there is no way to stop the creation of paths, but you can control them."

"I was reading more interviews with the maker of the game and he / they really stressed that the regrowth rate is effected by the environment (flowers / trees).

I wonder if the reason my rate of grass degradation is slower than others because I have a load of trees and flowers everywhere."

"I planted 2 trees(grown now) and planted a lot of flowers in a dirt spot, and the grass is growing back slowly in the past 2 days!"

Some have been saying that you can try watering the grass. And that its not the flowers doing good, but the watering of said flowers i.e you are really watering the grass.

This is from a nintendo interview, there is a whole section in there on the topic:

http://us.wii.com/iwata_asks/accf/vol1_page2.jsp

"Remember that while the grass will slowly grow back, the speed at which it grows will change depending on the environment. If it's an area full of trees and grass, or where flowers are planted, the grass will grow back more rapidly."

I rehosted those pics. They showed up when I posted it the first time, but then went away shortly thereafter. Some pic hosting sites are crap; I should've known not to hot link them. I'm just going to use TinyPic for now on. Here's a slideshow showing the entire 6 month growing process. Each pic is 1-2 weeks apart.

Desert town? Unfortunately, it's possible. Sad I planted some flowers on a patch of ground that had worn down to see if they will help get the grass back.

The silver shovel gives you a 10%  higher chance of doubling your money on the money rock. I think that's all it does.

6 months to grow that back? Sad

I hear that in spring the grass grows back much faster. I think I will just have to plant a shedload of lowers and trees on patchy areas and try to avoid them. Not much else you can do. But the interview says that it will start growing back after a day? But if you play the game each day and go fishing or whatever they will never get the chance to grow back? What stupid crap is that?

I laid patterns on my ramps a few days ago. End of next week I'm going to uncover a patch and see if the grass is back.

Let me know if that works for you. Several people on the Animal Crossing Community Forum  claim that doesn't work. They said patterns don't alter the affects of animal tracks at all. I'm curious to see if they are right or not.

I've been reading more threads. There is no solution unless there is some hidden widget in the game somewhere. Basically you can try to plant stuff to help, but it takes ages.

I read that Iwata Asks interiview, and the AC guys make this feature sound really cool. Then I look at my ugly ass town, and I curse them to hell!

You know what annoys me are rocks and pools of water in town. You have to go around them, so inevitably you end up going on the same routes to get through areas. What use are all the tiny ponds?

There are frogs and other stuff in the ponds during the Spring/Summer months.

Edit: Cool! Nook just sold me a Silver Net. This should make it a bit easier to catch those damn bees (Silver net is slightly bigger than the normal one).

Nintendo sent me an email today asking me to do a survey about Animal Crossing City Folk. I decided to go ahead and fill it out with the intention of telling them of all the stuff I like about the game, and about how stupid animal tracks is. Unfortuantely, the damn survey reached a page error, and won't let me complete it. Maybe they'll fix it later on.

EDIT: Well, I was able to finish the survey, but they never gave me a chance to complain about the animal tracks nonsense. Sad I'm going to send them an email then!

You should boycot them instead.

Nah. I'm not going to boycott Nintendo over a silly design flaw. Besides, 90% of the games I play are from Nintendo. What would I play if I boycotted them? Xbox 360 games? Sad Yeah, I don't think so; I'd probably shoot myself out of sheer boredom. Nyaa Yup, Nintendo's got me my the balls for sure.

Thanks for the things you've sent me, guys. I got GG's invite to Redd's joint and bought a few things for both of you as well. I can't cram anything else in my house! Lol.
This game amazes me. It might not look like much at first glance, but as the days go through and you keep playing it, it slowly grows in you, delivering little doses of cool stuff at every moment.

Do you have a dresser or storage closet yet, Steel? They will hold up to 160 items which makes it easier to keep the stuff you don't want sell. If you don't have one, I can send you one today; I have several that I'm not using.

Steel i gave you a refrigerator to store items in! If you want a new house you can start a new character. But it's best to pay Nook as he will add extensions to your existing one.
