Hrm

Halo Reach is the obvious answer -- if you look at all the stats Bungie has put out so far.  With multi-player and the level builder it lives forever.  But that says nothing, Halo is it's own beast, it transcends FPS.

You didn't define "big."  Size in content, GT5.  Size in critical success, SMG2.  Size in commercial success, it's a toss-up.  I don't see how Halo Reach is the "obvious" answer.

I was going to let him slide on not defining "big".

Halo Reach is "obvious" in that it was the largest entertainment event of 2010 in terms of revenue. 31 million games played in the first week. More con-current XBL conenctions that H3 has ever accomplished.

In terms of scope you can build your own levels in countless ways and in terms of multi-player it will have legs.

GT5 is probably the larger game in terms of content, we'll have to see.

SMG2 is clearly the critically "bigger" game.

But in Leo's thread he said, "go with your gut" and that's where I landed on Halo: Reach.

It;s not my personal choice, I won't get Reach for a long time, and am currently neck-deep in SMG2, but my "gut" tells me that Reach has more consequence on the gaming market than any of the other games.

And Black Ops? Puh-leese?  I know why it was included, but it is a midget in everyway comapred to the other games on that list.

We need Pachter's thoughts on the issue.

Halo Reach is a big release for Microsoft but it will never truly succeed until Microsoft raises the price of Xbox Live even more

I don't think he cares about his ranking when he has a Porsche.

I see a future where game developments costs have to peak and decline. It's not sustainable, no company is a guranteed hit factory and subsidising high end games with casual game profits doesn't sound viable to me.
