Blah, play REmake at least. I will not be joining you, crazy ass
This would take ages, how can you do this? I can't even muster up the will to replay RE0 for the second time and I liked it first time through.
You should do a story walkthrough synopsis as you go through. I would enjoy reading that.
So you're going to sacrifice atmosphere, superior controls, better sound/music, intense and scary frights for a bit of load time?Dvader said:
I will be playing the DS version of RE mainly cause it has no load times
You, sir, are mad
I am playing all games in the series, REmake is its own seperate entry into the series, I will play it when I get to it.
GG I could finish RE1 in under an hour if I wanted to. This won't take long at all. RE0 is the one I am dreading, I have no love for that game.
Ok just made it to the guardhouse, so far its extremely easy. I have about 10 full life herbs stored in the item box, I got tons of ammo, I am all set for the rest of the game already.
I must say that no game has writing as amazing as this game. Anyone can write a good game story with quality dialogue, but it takes a true genius to come up with stuff like " Now its Wesker's time to disappear" "Well it can't be helped" or "WOAH! This hall is dangerous!" or my personal favorite "take this weapon, its extremely powerful, especially against living things." MASTERPIECE writing, no RE game even comes close!
Oh and Richard's voice actor, OMG . But the rest of the cast delivers the lines so well, Barry's voice actor even with the moronic lines he got delivers them with such enthusiam, he's great. You know whats really funny, all the files have excellent writing. Why were they able to translate that but not the dialogue.
I noticed something new, in the Researcher's Will he mentions he couldn't write before cause of the man in sunglasses, I dont even remember that line. I didn't realize there was a hint to Wesker working at Umbrella that early on in the game.
Random question, did you guys ever try to light the large boiler that is outside where the dogs jump at you. The first time I played I figured I could light it and something would happen.
So have been playing as I always do, trying to conserve as much as I can early on. I always have a heirarchy of what weapons to use against what enemies. I almost always use pistols against zombies, dogs and birds. I use shotguns againt certain zombies, spiders, and hunters. By the later stages of the game I leave my pistol behind cause its all hunters so I just carry a shotgun and bazooka, acid rounds baby. For bosses I bring in all the powerful guns I got. By the end of the game I always have so much ammo I could have run through the game and killed everyone.
Time to continue.

You play Metroid. That immediately nullifies your claim.

Something tells me you would love Disaster Day of Crisis or HOTD 2. I saw the latest Tenchu trailer and this high pitched american accented japanese guy said something like "I piss on your excuses!"
Here it is.
All done, final stats 2 hours 50 minutes, no deaths. If I had remembered that the DS version didn't have the original credits I wouldn't have played this version. Also there were all sorts of little tweaks and changes to the game.
I love the music in the guardhouse, espcially in the underground tank. I did the V-Jolt just cause its a cool little puzzle, but that meant I missed the Barry with a flamethrower cutscene, oh well. You know I dont think I ever realized what the poll table in the spider room was for, it was for the door to the v-jolt room, I always messed around with the control panel I thought that was a puzzle. I like the mansion of this version better than REmake, but the rest of the game especially the guardhouse so much better in REmake, they did a great job fleshing it all out.
After the guardhouse comes the hunters, probably my favorite enemy in the series, still I had so much ammo I was blowing the arms off like nothing. You know the second snake fight and how it creates a hole in the ground that leads to the underground section, why in the hell is there a grave in a room that has no exits but to go down into the basement and is under the floor of another room. Why is the ladder from the basement there, you climb up the ladder and end up in this enclosed tiny space with no way out. Every other part of the house at least makes sense, this one doesn't.
You know that room with the book shelves covering the ladder that goes down to the tank, well I always push the shelves to each end. Every time you come back into the room the shelves are both placed on the right side, I have always noticed it.
In the sewers I chose to get the good ending. "UNrico!" You know this game probably has the best puzzles in the series. You got the painting room, V-jolt, the waterfall to get into the sewers, john/ada one, all the puzzles in the series really just follow what this game did. I went for the best ending so in the lab I got all mo-discs. Are the naked zombies the only respawing enemies in the series? Right after Wesker gets knocked out by Barry they are talking about the Tyrant and Barry says something about going into destroy the Tyrant and Jill inexplicably responds with "You are so optimistic". Awesome. I made sure to visit Wesker's dead body in the boiler room.
Love this game, its simple though, I think RE2 was a really nice jump in terms of the action and pacing.
Next up RE2 my favorite of the old style games.

So awesome, I need to play that game but there is nothing on a US release, WHY?

Don't remind me, I sarted that piece of shit out of curiosity. Then I had to finish it, because once set in motion I cannot be stoped. Unlike some people who have to use their little girls to finish their games
P.S. I am talking about the original (8-bit) Metroid. Making fun of Super Metroid and beyond is like making fun of Fedor. Yes it can be done, but you make an ass of yourself!
Fuck, you can beat the first game in under an hour? Nice.
darthhomer said:You know what, I may take part in this. I've never beaten an RE game before, and I might as well just beat the original game.

Well the DS version allows you to skip all cutscenes and load times, so that helps a lot.
You have never beaten one, wow.

The night I got this , way back in 96, is seriously one of my best childhood memories, a sleep over with my brother and a friend, we stayed up playing this blowing game, something we had never done before. I will never ever forget it, none of us will forget it, we still talk about that night to this day. This game was so ahead of its time, so groundbreaking. Every time I play this game all those feelings cum rushing back
Ok enough about it, time to play it. I will start tomorrow and probably end it tomorrow, I can beat this game rather quickly. I will be back with all sorts of thoughts after I play.
Pffft....you're fucking disgusting.
BTW...I played through most of the games last year, but stopped halfway through Code Veronica.
I beat RE Zero and REmake of Cube, then I beat RE2 and RE3 on the Dreamcast.
I gotta finish up Code Veronica and blast through RE4 again.
aspro73 said:Holyshit vader. It'd take me 4 days of gaming to beat the original. I'd be doing this along with you if I had my consoles hooked up, but you'd be done by the time I was on 3.
This is a guy who blasts through like 25 games a month. Keep that in mind. Dvader is not normal.
Leading up to the release of Resident Evil 5 I plan to do a full series playthrough, I will play all 7 games in the main series (and maybe UC as well since its canon) in order of their release. As I play them I will just throw up whatever thoughts on the game I have. Some of them I have not played in years so I wonder what my reaction will be, maybe I forgot a certain scare, or noticed something for the first time.
So why dont you guys join me. I am doing this on another site as well so this is a copy/paste job, dont worry I will get more personal with you guys if you respond here.
RESIDENT EVIL:
I will be playing the DS version of RE mainly cause it has no load times. I will be playing the original mode obviously. I will play as Jill cause that is my primary character for RE1, I have always loved her side more than Chris, why, cause of a red bearded badass of a man named Barry Burton (I heart Barry).
So the original, no game in this series even comes close to holding such a special place in my heart. Its not my favorite RE game, but its by far the most important to me. This is the game I know by heart, I know the lines, I know every room, every enemy, every scare, everything. Its the game that changed my whole view on gaming, its the reason I am here at a site like this. If I had entered into this series at a later point I doubt I would ever have the same love for this series, its all cause of this one game that I am the fan that I am.
