IGN eyes on trailer and screens
A lone warrior chopping through an army of robotic warriors with an outsized Cloud Strife-like energy sword. Colossal war machines advancing though a misty canyon, shooting anything that moves. The few remaining human defenders hiding behind simple wooden shields that are no match for high-energy weapons. Welcome to the world of Monado.
The debut trailer for Monado: Beginning of the World premiered today at E3: 2009, and first impressions for the new Wii RPG are that the beginning is going to be pretty exciting. Things kick off with that canyon-set battle, revealing more and bigger enemies with an interesting steampunk design. Things likely don't end well for our lone warrior, as we soon segue to a young blonde hero discovering that energy sword - now inert - only to see it flash blindingly to life the moment he picks it up. Your standard JRPG Hero's Journey (tm) is definitely in full effect here, with just a dash of King Arthur.
Gameplay appears to be open-world, where you'll traverse lush jungles, glowing forests, climb sheer walls, and encounter the crumbling remains of a conquered people. It looks nicely textured and details pop, animating at what looks like a smooth 30 fps.
Players will pick up two partners in their travels, and while combat initially looks turn-based, we saw all three party members attacking simultaneously. Transitions into combat are completely seamless; characters approach enemies, draw weapons, and it's on. One scene showed your team (wielding much smaller edged weaponry) surrounding a lizard-man enemy, who didn't make much of a dent in their lifebars before it was downed. A much larger lizard-man (a good twenty feet tall) and giant mutant crab monster probably fared better.

Hit the HQ option.
That would be no.
While I'm here, where the hell is Shimmering Forte? Hot day at Eks watering hole? Cannot find the bastard. What is it? A flying beast? A fish? what?
BTW these enemies in the factory are annoying I do fine, then when I topple them they do massive amounts of spike defence hits. What colour are spike resist gems?
You have a hot day when you see a heat haze. Just keep moving the clock until you find it. Shimmering Forte looks like the small T-rex with the fire on its back. He is not at the watering hole, but near it. When you have the hot day, save and keep looking for him. If the day is over, reload your save file.
The Machina refuge is the part in M. field where you enter the outside. You see a big slope with platforms on it. Some have the blue flames (items) on it. One of those platforms leads you to the refuge.
I think I saw that platform but I couldn't reach it. I tried jumping onto it but the fall damage killed me.
I finally completed the game in 210 hours. All the five optional uber monsters are dead. The last one was a 120 level dragon, but with some good preperations and tactics it was not that hard. After I defeated the monster I again finished the game. The last boss was so easy. I beat him before when I was level 80, but now at level 99 with level VI gems, max affinity between characters and good armour, he was easy. Beat it in 60 seconds.
After you finish the game, a new game+ opens. You are allowed to take 30 weapons, 30 pieces of armour for leg, head, chest, foot and arms and so on. I will play the game+ to get all the loot that I missed , kill all the unique monsters that escaped me and to make different choices in my sidequests. But that can wait.
All in all one the best RPGs I ever played. What an epic adventure. You guys have to try it out, no excuses. Importing is not rocket science.
Now to rest this game and my Wii for a while and time to start playing GTA: Chinatown Wars.
210 hours. Jesus.
It is not that bad. I think with some smarter play I could go down to 160 hours easily.
I am not sure if you already ordered the game, but if you did, give me a heads up before you start, so I can give you some tips that will make the game more enjoyable.
Oh, is that all? Meh, that's nothing!
I cant believe this is still not coming out here. Seriously wtf. I would have figured they would cave in by now.
