IGN eyes on trailer and screens
A lone warrior chopping through an army of robotic warriors with an outsized Cloud Strife-like energy sword. Colossal war machines advancing though a misty canyon, shooting anything that moves. The few remaining human defenders hiding behind simple wooden shields that are no match for high-energy weapons. Welcome to the world of Monado.
The debut trailer for Monado: Beginning of the World premiered today at E3: 2009, and first impressions for the new Wii RPG are that the beginning is going to be pretty exciting. Things kick off with that canyon-set battle, revealing more and bigger enemies with an interesting steampunk design. Things likely don't end well for our lone warrior, as we soon segue to a young blonde hero discovering that energy sword - now inert - only to see it flash blindingly to life the moment he picks it up. Your standard JRPG Hero's Journey (tm) is definitely in full effect here, with just a dash of King Arthur.
Gameplay appears to be open-world, where you'll traverse lush jungles, glowing forests, climb sheer walls, and encounter the crumbling remains of a conquered people. It looks nicely textured and details pop, animating at what looks like a smooth 30 fps.
Players will pick up two partners in their travels, and while combat initially looks turn-based, we saw all three party members attacking simultaneously. Transitions into combat are completely seamless; characters approach enemies, draw weapons, and it's on. One scene showed your team (wielding much smaller edged weaponry) surrounding a lizard-man enemy, who didn't make much of a dent in their lifebars before it was downed. A much larger lizard-man (a good twenty feet tall) and giant mutant crab monster probably fared better.

Hit the HQ option.
Vader. By regen you meant Summon Aqua. Penis.
As Melia I got the boss to 2 thirds of her life bar remaining, rubbish. I switched to Riki and kept inflicting bleed and poison, got her to about 1 third of her life remaining. But Shulk died early and I couldn't fucking find him to resurrect, damned camera. Switched back to Melia with what I learned and got her with 1cm of life remaining
But Shulk died halfway into the battle and I couldn't find him to resurrect - so full camera zoom out next time.
You guys your tips are great but lacking in nuance, for instance you can only topple by using the spear first then starlight kick in quick succession. You didn't mention that spells worked two ways, firstly increasing your stats then only damaging on discharge. Misnaming arts too was a problem. Anyhow thanks, I almost got this bitch. I'm going to try sealing her arts first next time immediately after toppling her.
Weird how the game - or the manual never really mentions that you have to spam the middle button to discharge attacks to deal damage. It looks like your arts are sealed to the uninitiated, but really you have to hit that middle button to use what you've already selected.
I BEAT LORATHIA!
Now I'm chasing DICKson while creaming his asshole beasts. But I'm kinda lost... I'm in some kinda kitchen? There's no way out?
facing dragon now
I forgot why Dickson is a bad guy.
He's like immortal or something? Remind me someone please.
I find it hard to take him seriously when he's dressed like a hippie with a handlebar moustache and bandana.
Beat that Dragon mutherfucker.
Shulk Riki and Melia wasn't cutting it. All Rikis attacks are slow burn or super weak. Shulk attracts aggro and dies frequently. Using Dunban and agility gems wasn't working as I only have level 4 gems. Went back to Reyn as he has 9999/9999 health. He drew the dragon, i toppled frequently and chain attacked that asshole.
Watching the ending on youtube, what the fuuuuuuuck? Alvis? If there's one game that needs to be an anime, it's this.
MGS and Phoenix Wright too.
