Forget about others, you should have their gifts sorted by now, if not what the hell is wrong with you? :P

This is about you, getting the best stuff you deserve.

My first pick is Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood on Bluray.

This critically acclaimed series adorns the top spots in many best ever anime lists. It looks and sounds beautiful and has one of the most complete and satisfying stories I've ever watched in a tv series. After watching the whole series through twice it's cemented it's place in my top tv series I've ever seen.

Pick 2 is the Double Pack Bluray of Summer Wars and The Girl Who Leapt through Time

The director, Hosoda is good enough to be snapped up as the new lead director of Studio Ghibli. Summer Wars is an enormous crowd pleaser for the digital generation and depicts the fight between an aggressive artifical intelligence, with the very grounded and humorous reality, of your average dysfunctional, Japanese family. His earlier film is almost as good, as your quirky schoolgirl finds she can leap back in time and alter her life to good and bad effect. It may be hard to get this double pack in America, so pick up Summer Wars as your first priority.

Next up is the Dark Knight Returns Part 1 and 2

This is about 2 hours 40 minutes of Batman gold. Based on the important redefining 1980's graphic novel by influential writer Frank Miller (Sin City, 300) this tale made the Dark Knight serious. The tale is set many years in the future, with a more grizzled and violent, pension age Batman returning to the crime fighting fold to face off with the rising mutant threat. As well as facing the threat from a corrupt Superman backed government. This double feature is not to be missed for any Batfan.

The Flashpoint Paradox is another DC animated feature.

After the hugely enjoyable Justice League Doom (another movie you need to check out) I was dubious whether the DC team could be consistent and deliver something vaguely as good. Boy was I wrong. These guys keep getting better and better, The Flashpoint Paradox is one of their best movies and perhaps one of the best superhero movies I've ever seen. The story sees Flash faced with a life altering time travel event that redraws the rules of the DC Universe, seeing friends become foes.

Splinter Cell Blacklist

Don't ignore this game, I know the franchise has sagged somewhat since the original but Blacklist is the real deal. If you've ever enjoyed a Splinter Cell game then this mana from heaven. Real stealth with no real drawbacks. A great and varied campaign, a story as entertaining as many modern spy thrillers, unexpected and delightful setpieces, high tension results in high satisfaction. It has nearly all the separate co-op missions playable in single player too, and these modes are for the hardcore, get spotted once and game over - or get spotted and have more enemies flood the level. Blacklist is a dream come true for fans of the series. It's less flash, more substance.

Get the U version for extra pad features and no screen tearing or get the 360 version for higher res textures but with 20% screen tearing. Or get the PC version that is technically the best graphically.

Special features on it is just commentaries from the western dubbing team and textless openings and credits.

I still have to sort out my presents for others, I know there is something wrong with me in that respect.  I have been so averse to dealing with the Christmas crowds and all the indecisions I'm tormented by whenever it comes to buying presents.  So I made excuses to avoid shopping for presents while I'm still going to work ... which means after Monday I will need to face the music and go out to get presents.

Also, nice suggestions for nerdy single guy own-gifts.  I'd like to get into a good anime series again.  Also you make Splinter Cell sound enticing but I have several of them and yet to finish a single one so maybe I need to just decide that they're not for me.

Which ones? I can understand with some of them, Blacklist is very good though. Interesting story for the genre, nice scenarios and features. All around better game. It's the first SC game where I completed it and immediately started again.

I think I have all of them except Double Agent.  I have the first three on XBox (I don't have an original XB anymore) and Conviction on X360.

I don't know if I am that big on stealth games.  I may just have to admit defeat there.  I hated Deus Ex (though it was the PS3 version).  The only game that's in that category which I finished and enjoyed was Metal Gear Solid (perhaps Beyond Good and Evil as well if you count that as a stealth game - which I probably would for the most part)
