This game is probably not meant for me as it is almost devoid of any true challenge. In reality there is nothing wrong with the game from a mechanics stand point, not even from a level design stand point. Kirby controls like a dream and has all sorts of interesting moves. He can transform into many different objects, these are often some of the best moments of the game, especially the shoot em up like spaceships. The levels have loads of variety and make great use of this yarn motif. That said this game is just simple. Clearly targeted at kids it never tries to go beyond the just have fun area into the now I will challenge your skills area. I live for the challenge in platformers, that is where the meat of a platformer is for me. There are a ton of optional "challenges" which make you do simple things like get a certain amount of gems in a certain amount of time. Almost all of these are super easy. At the very end of list you may get one or two that may require multiple attempts but to reach them you have to go through like 17 levels of mind numbing easy challenges. The core levels never seem to go beyond introducing new mechanics, things stay fresh but you never feel like you have to master anything. Even the requirements for getting the best medal for a level is ridiculously easy. Its a very well made game, probably deserves a higher score than what I am giving it but it is MY score and that is what I feel about it. I was happy to be done with it and never plan to touch it again. BTW what is with this games' obsession with wall paper? |
