This game has potential, you got the license, the music, and it works in VR! But the content is just not there. Creed has fun VR boxing, it’s a full workout, I don’t think I’ve ever been as sweaty playing a game. Opponents stand right in front of you loading up punches as you block or duck and weave. You throw punches, the harder you throw the more power there is. Mixing up your punches is key as opponents will block and counter, it’s a blast and very tiring. There are a few gamey things like if you dodge a power punch you go into slow motion and if you hit the enemy enough you get in a mini punching game to knock them out. Getting knocked out yourself results in a swinging of your arms mini game as you try to get your disembodied soul back to your body lol. Before each fight you train in gyms from the movies and Rocky is your coach. There is a montage mini game where you have to complete quick activities in a minute, depending how many you get you receive a stamina boost for the next fight. These are all fun mini games that are taken from the movie like punching frozen meat and the classic Rocky music plays, presentation is good. But here I was, getting through my career, I had a title shot that went the distance (in an awesome montage style fight) but you lose in decision by design. I figured most of the fights going forward would be like that to mimic the movie. It was so good, after the first full round the Rocky music kicks in and the montage begins, you have like 30-40 seconds to land significant punches before it fades to black shifts you to the next round quickly. Some rounds you knock him down, some he knocks you down. It’s exhausting, there are no breaks it’s just you putting everything you got to stay alive, swinging, the music blasting, I was Rocky! And the end comes and you have to lose in decision, cause that’s the Rocky way. But that’s the only fight where that happens. Then you fight some other random guy and the game ends. No title, no rematch, no storyline whatsoever. Nothing. The game literally just stops after like 8 fights. It takes like 40 minutes to get through it all, it’s pathetically short. You can play custom fights where a bunch of classic Rocky fighters are there, you can be Rocky and fight Apollo or Drago, so basically just make your own story I guess. It’s such a barebones game which is a damn shame because the boxing is awesome and one hell of a work out. |

Best workout in VR by a mile. Forget beat saber, forget the dance games, forget even the actual fitness games. Just go into a ring and pretend to box for 30 minutes… Jesus Christ how do these people do this.

This kind of reminds me when I was using the motion controls and balance board to play Punch Out Wii. It was a great workout. You would have a real sweat going around the time you reach great tiger. Unfortunately the balance board just wasn't accurate enough to make dodging effective and fights after that we're almost impossible.
