Leaks on cancelled Resident Evil projects / No remake of Resident Evil 5
11.02.26 - Several leaks from industry insider AestheticGamer, known as Dusk Golem, provide insight into discontinued Resident Evil projects.
Between 2012 and 2014, Capcom said it examined various concepts, which were either discarded or fundamentally revised. These included a planned story expansion for Resident Evil 6 with Claire Redfield and Moira Burton in the destroyed Tall Oaks. The project was therefore discontinued after disappointing sales figures of the main game; individual ideas were later incorporated into other projects.
A Western-inspired game codenamed Biohazard Z and an experimental open-world approach on a Russian island also failed to reach the production stage. Several early versions of Resident Evil 7, including scenarios in Italy and Brazil, have also been abandoned. A version of Revelations 3 with Rebecca Chambers, which was stopped in 2022, remained without official confirmation.
A remake of Resident Evil 5 is currently not planned: The project has not been released internally and is currently not showing any development momentum. Instead, remakes of Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero have been in active development since 2022; Code Veronica should appear first. The information is considered unofficial and has not been confirmed by Capcom.

Sony wants to keep PS5 prices and hints at higher costs for PS Plus
10.02.26 - Sony signals that rising costs for memory components are likely to have an impact on services rather than on the price of the PlayStation 5. Chief Financial Officer Lin Tao said in a conference call that Sony has secured the minimum amount of storage to sustain PS5 production until 2026.
Production losses are therefore considered unlikely, and at the same time higher storage prices increase unit costs. Sony wants to avoid a direct price increase of the console as much as possible, as the company expects more than 15 million units to be sold in 2026.
In Europe and the US, prices have been around 15 percent above the original recommended price since August 2025, according to the report, while Japan remains closer to baseline levels. In addition, Sony is examining a cheaper entry-level model as well as adjustments to subscriptions such as PlayStation Plus to cushion rising costs more broadly.
