Chances are we’ll be getting a look at FIFA 13 on Wii U. EA may also show Mass Effect 3 running on the system.

Mass Effect could be incredible on the Wii U. Its just stupid that they're only releasing the 3rd game on it.

Especially as the system has 25 gb discs.

But I would like to see MOH Warfighter, Crysis 3, Dead Space 3 like games although I do not really care about Dead Space. What I expect from EA on Wii U is sports games and some casual shit. Other than the late ports which wont sell like Mass Effect 3.

Seriously, thinking about it why put the 3rd part of a trilogy on a Nintendo console where its gamers haven't even had the chance to play ME1 and 2?

2K

2K boss Christoph Hartmann says developers go back to shooter games because they are a safer bet, as video games can't portray emotions the same way that movies can.

There's been no shortage lately of opinions from game industry professionals on what the future of gaming needs to do to evolve. Christoph Hartmann, boss of 2K Games believes real-life graphics is a necessary goal for games.

Speaking to GamesIndustry International Hartmann laments that the film industry is still holding an advantage over video games because movie directors are able to express strong emotions, where video games can't.

It is for this reason that Hartmann believes many developers fall back to the "safer bet" of action and shooter games.

Hartmann says it's easy to "recreate a Mission Impossible experience in gaming...recreating emotions in Brokeback Mountain are going to be tough."Hartmann goes on to say that "until games are photo-realistic, it'll be very hard to open up to new genres. We can really only focus on action and shooter titles; those are suitable for consoles now."

According to Hartmann including strong emotions such as sadness or love, "things that drive movies" is too hard to recreate in games at this time. He concludes with his belief that, "to dramatically change the industry to where we can insert a whole range of emotions, I feel it will only happen when we reach the point that games are photorealistic; then we will have reached an endpoint and that might be the final console."

What kinda shit is this?

What new genres need photorealsim? List em' nao. I gurantee that when games are photorealistic people will still be making COD type games.

You don't need much to generate emotion

Kotaku said:

The biggest problem in gaming today is that the gaming industry thinks we're all out to get them. They think gamers are the enemy, a group that needs to be treated with disdain and avoided whenever possible. They think the only way to fool us into buying their products is to cover everything in a shroud of secrecy, only drip-feeding us pretty trailers and juicy soundbites during carefully-tailored marketing campaigns. They think we should just sit there and lap it up.

Game makers are afraid to get our hopes up about projects that might be cancelled. They won't talk about games they've spent months or years creating. They won't show us prototypes or tell us about problems or even answer the most rudimentary questions, like "will this game be multiplatform?" or "can we use guns in this one?"

Sometimes they won't even confirm a video game's existence. When asked by Kotaku last month if Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a game announced in 2006, was still under development, developer Square Enix refused to answer. They wouldn't confirm or deny the existence of a game they had already announced.

Sometimes it's minor questions. Last week, Bethesda wouldn't say whether Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC will come to PC and PlayStation 3, nor would they say why its 30-day exclusivity window on Xbox 360 exceeded 30 days. I've hounded Konami quite a few times about re-releasing beloved classic Suikoden II on the PlayStation Network, but they won't say a word: just "we have nothing to announce at this time." Sometimes things just get preposterous: earlier this year, when I casually asked Kingdom Hearts co-director Tai Yasue how many people helped make Dream Drop Distance, a PR representative immediately interrupted to say they couldn't comment.

That's right: Square Enix wouldn't even say how many people worked on one of their games. Even though I can just go in and count the credits.

Don't gamers deserve answers? Don't the fans whose hundreds of millions of dollars a year keep this industry booming deserve to feel like game companies care enough to address their questions? Why are publishers so afraid to tell us about the deals they make or the games they cancel? Why won't they shed more light on their business choices, on the way they make the games we love? Just what is so bad about information?

No other industry treats its customers like this. Hollywood filmmakers aren't afraid to tell us what they're working on. They're not worried we might find out who is cast in their movies or what their film sets are like. They're not afraid to give us an inside look at their creative processes, nor do they refuse to answer questions about what they have to offer. And filmmakers certainly aren't afraid to tell us when a movie, sometimes announced many years before it will see the silver screen, has made its way to the depths of development hell.

Sing it, sister!

More here.

I said this a few weeks back.

Oh man what did they do to the graphics. I think this is the first time I play it after the patch, did they just make everything look like crap.

This is like waking up after an epic night of drinking, I dont remember much of anything. At least I found my home, I have some chick following me so I guess that is my companion. She says I am the keeper of Namira's ring, whatever that means.

Well, you don't need a home -- I beat it without one.  If you want to attack the missions the Journal does tell you which ones are critical and which are optional.

And the patches didn't break the graphics, you probably broke your head on all those 3D games.

In Japanese fighting game news:

BlazBlu franchise sells over 1.7 million lifetime sales and

SoulCalibur 5 sold over a million.  So I guess we'll be getting another Soul Calibur.  Frankly, I had my fill by the time I finished 4.

I am pretty sure an early PS3 patch did effect the graphics. I remember it happening.

Bethesda cant get the DLC to work for Skyrim PS3, wtf is going on with them. Today I encountered a glitch where I could not go into the water or the game would freeze. The fix was to delete the game install and patches and redo install all of it, which took like 20 minutes, yay...

Yeah I had that same glitch, fixed it the same way.

Bethesda is bullshit also, like I've said before if they can't figure out the PS3 then they shouldn't be playing with the big boys and just stick to 360 and PC.  Or hand over development to Obsidian -- they don't seem to have trouble with it.

Fallout NV would like to have a word with you. Nyaa

The issue usually comes from the completely moronic desicion to keep every item in the game world active even when its dropped and left behind. The save files become ridiculous, the system cant handle that much info. I dont give a shit about a plate I dropped on the floor 50 hours ago!
