I honestly wish that's what Retro were doing right NOW. Donkey Kong is all well and good....but having those guys doing a direct sequel to a family-friendly Super Nintendo game really isn't what I pictured Retro Studios doing, post Metroid. As I've said before, I think its a waste of their talents, and as one of the few Nintendo developers who normally work outside that box.

I agree. Kind of weird to have Retro working on a platformer. Let them do what they want, let them create something. Obviously they are good enough.

It seems like an easy break for them though -- you know? DK can't be taking that much to put together (versus the games they used to work on). Hopefully this is a holdover project and they are working their way back up, not down.

Funny you mentioned Retro doing Zelda. Kind of makes me think about Castlevania Lords of Shadow.

Which leads me to my question for y'all:

Do you think Zelda would work with the God of War formula like how Castlevania is being re-imagined with Lords of Shadow? So basically like Darksiders but only better!

Will it work? If Retro does Zelda, I can only picture them doing a western take on the series.

Oh how about let them try Zelda...

What's funny is I was thinking that myself. These guys could create an amazing Zelda game. They know level design better than anybody obviously from the Metroid games. I'd still rather them work on something NEW though.

I wouldn't doubt that that's exactly why they chose this game....the Wii is kind of in an odd spot right now, nobody really knows how much longer it will go on, or if the audience is even still there for a more Mature game. Especially a new IP. Retro could just be holding onto a new IP for the launch of Nintendo's next console, who knows?

When I think GoW formula I think linear game. A Zelda game with that kind of combat system would be perfect as long as the structure of the game remains the same. Basically something like Other M where the action gets a face lift but not like Other M in that the game still focuses on puzzles and exploration.

I would love to see Bethesda or Bioware's  take on Zelda.Though i feel those two companies would just turn into a usual clone of their games.

It would be Zelda PRIME, basically. It would be awesome. And maybe Link would stop moving like he's got shit in his pants. lol

lol

I find it best to have a party that consists of the Mentor (cuz he's like a cool uncle) The Bitch (cuz she's like the one you wanted to bang in high school) and the Sociopath (cuz he's hilarious).

I also like the completely nuts non-living characters, like HK-47 and the Stone Golem. lol

A Bethesda Zelda game would give you this enormous world but it will have the same dungeon replicated 300 times.

Oh and you will be able to join all the different guilds at once like the "Hyrule Guard guild", "Old Men in caves guild", "It's a secret to everybody guild", "Tingle's fairy guild", "Murderous Ganon Guild".

, "Murderous Ganon Guild".

lol Unless it was designed like Morrowind, in which case the dungeons would actually all look different.

Oh and lets not forget when both Bioware and Bethesda are done with their Zelda games, a sequel would be made by Obsidian and it will be worse version of the same exact games.

Judge says kids need to stop playing games and go out in the woods

"If young people spent more time in the woods and on the water and away from malls, video games and televisions, our juvenile delinquency and crime numbers would drop." - Hamilton County General Sessions Court Judge Bob Moon

That was my first thought "Isn't that where they find all the bodies?"

The base model costs $7.669. Yeah, that's the cheaper one. Although there's nothing cheap about its overclocked, liquid cooled Core i7 CPU, 6GBs of RAM, liquid cooled SLI Nvidia GTX 480, two solid-state 50GB HDDs in RAID O formation and separate 2TB HDD., Blu-ray burner and huge list of other gizmos. Like, that's already fast enough to out-process NASA, cure cancer and simulate the birth of the universe AND the universe's mum and dad's birth as well.

What a craptacular deal.  Let's go with the maxed out i7 Extreme 980X, even though they didn't specify, at $1000.  6GB RAM?  Hell, make it twelve, $300.  80GB SSD $200x2.  2TB drive, $190.  Nvidia GTX 480 - $509.  Then it's the case, motherboard, etc.  Let's go absolutely nuts at $2000.

GRAND TOTAL: $4399.00
