Games with honest potential to do favorably for me


-Rise of the Tomb Raider. I'm not playing that game at an unplayable framerate, that's grotesque.Plus I always felt it was a theory I'd be more into that reboot styled game if they at least did more tombs, but honestly I want a full on adventure game that just happens to have good shooting mechanics. Not a shooter, that just happens to pretend it's an adventure game.


-Xenoblade Chronicles X. I still haven't played the first one, and in theory I still want to play Xenogears one of these days. In a lot of ways I think I like the idea of me playing a jrpg like those and actually enjoying them, because holy shit outside of the Souls stuff has that genre sucked balls since The World Ends With You.


I think that's really it. I'm working on The Witcher 3 now, it's pretty fucking rad, but I wouldn't call it GOTY with that combat. Ori and The Blind Forest is fantastic, and might actually be my pick. Played enough of Arkham Knight to say HELL NO, but I'll finish it. Not feeling Pillars of Eternity the way I was Divinity last year. Infinifactory is fucking awesome, could also do it for me, but I also really fucking love Spacechem. Otherwise Rocket League is still pretty bitchin, and Bloodborne's DLC reminded me I still really like the shit out of Bloodborne.

This year was supposed to be special, and frankly while it's get a better selection of heavy hitter mainstream titles this year, I think it's right in line with the type of year last year was. A lot of good games, but outside of one great game (Bayonetta 2, and even that came with an asterisk, it was more fucking Bayonetta), not a lot of special games. In fact games with glaring fucking misfires. Add bonus not enough new and creative shit, in that context, highly appreciative of a game like Splatoon.
