Can you put a penis in the snowman? Like, a carrot penis?

No. The carrot and coal automatically appear on the snowman when you roll the two large snowballs together.

Animal Tracks?

I was reading this thread where AC fans were complaining about how their grass has been worn away by a feature called "Animal Tracks." Supposedly, this feature creates dirt paths in your town by running or walking over grass repeatedly. Running causes the wear to happen faster than walking, but both may lead to loss of grass and an ugly town. The grass will grow back slowly over time, but you have to refrain from walking/running on it too much. Also, snow will only stay on grass covered areas, so the less grass your town has, the less snow you will have as well.

Personally, I noticed more dirt/less grass in my town, but I thought it was due to changes in the seasons, not because of some feature that I never heard of. It really doesn't bother me, though. However, many people in that thread are annoyed that Nintendo added this feature to ACCF. I'm not even sure I believe it's true since I haven't seen any real before/after pics proving this phenomenon, but I suppose it's something to look out for if you like a lot of snow and grass in your town.

If you see another axe, send it my way. I like the turnip market, I paid 102 bells each and today Nook was buying them at 162 each. What gifts are you sending? And how long have you waited for a reply? I sent you a Space Station, that's worth over 3000 bells. I want that frog statue!

LOL you got the ape? Show me a pic!

I ordered a second lucky frog statue from Nook, and sent it to you last night. I also sent you a blue dresser which can hold 160 items! Hmm, you should've recieved both letters by now, I think. I haven't recieved that Space Station yet either. Damn Animal Crossing's slow mail carriers. Sad

Unfortunately, I didn't get a pic. It happened too fast. She didn't say anything until she got out of the hole either; I was hoping for a scream like that pic you posted earlier. Nope, I only got chewed out afterwards. Sad It was still funny, though. LOL

I got the frog this morning. Interestingly I saw it in my catalogue before you sent it. It seems that if you both handle the same item, you then virtually own it and can just order it from Nooks Catalogue. Cool to know. So when you dropped it and I picked it up, we both got ownership of the item.

You guys are really making me want this game, but I still don't want it enough to pay $80.
Is Wii Speak necessary or vital to the game at all or can I just get the $50 game by itself? You're talking about typing a lot... is there a lot of in-game typing or just online?

I'm probably more qualified to answer this. Offline you can just type a few words in a letter, you dont have to send letters at all if you dont want to but you can get cool replies with presents as a reward. Online though I've found it managable with some pre-prepped phrases and the virtual keyboard although it would be better with a USB keyboard and MUCH better with Wii Speak. This game makes me want to buy it.

It's true, I have a small passage which is the only way to get between the elevated ground and the lower section so you always have to run through it. I noticed this morning that you could see footprints, the ground was worn. I haven't been playing long so my town is completely snow covered Happy I can only find one snowball. I want to make my snowman Sad Did you get the snow furniture?

Massive review here:

http://www.destructoid.com/destructoid-review-animal-crossing-city-folk-113842.phtml

"This sedating appeal can't be underestimated in accounting for the series' ongoing success, especially in Japan. In an overcrowded country world-renowned for its focus on strict adherence to obligations (jobs, school, tradition, etc.), Animal Crossing provides a supremely serene, stress-free world where there is no right or wrong, just the Zen art of laziness. The first and only responsibility you have in the game is to get your boss to fire you. That's when you raise your fist in the air and say something like, "Yeah boy! Work is for chumps! Time to get stupid!" It's a divinely poetic moment for anyone who has ever dreamed of living a life centered around gainful unemployment; a life without homework, time-clocks, or expectations of any kind. In that way, Animal Crossing is adult life as most adults wish it could be; a life where all tasks are easily performed and unpleasantness just doesn't exist."

MOTHER******!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only can you burst in on Resetti's secret hideout you can do this too. Pay off your mortgage and then upgrade the town. But shiiiiiiiit, Midna Masks?!

"From there, you can pay the town 200,000 bells (bells = in-game currency) to build a new bridge, 500,000 bells to build a wishing well, or 1,000,000 bells to build a lighthouse or a windmill. In achievement-speak, that's like Dead Rising's zombie genocider multiplied by one hundred units of overkill. City Folk also features Gracie Grace, a huge department store where all the stuff costs ten times what it should (which is exactly why you'll want it all.) There are also wearable helmets to make you look like Nintendo icons, such as Samus, Link, Midna, Toad, and even Majora's Mask. These accessories, along with many other Nintendo-themed items, can only be bought with "shopping points", and the only way to get those is to shop at Tom Nook's store. It's like Club Nintendo, but inside a Nintendo game. Maybe it isn't as cool as the playable NES games found in the original Animal Crossing, but it's damn close.  "

"Had enough of this massive list of new stuff in City Folk? Well, too bad, because now it's time to go over the new character interactions. All the holidays (and the special villagers that come with them) from the GameCube Animal Crossing are back. There are also two holidays that make their debut in City Folk, Easter and Mardi Gras, as well as a host of country-specific holidays for the Korean, Japanese, and European versions of the game. There are over 200 villagers, 50 of them being brand new (including a British bird named Sterling, wot wot) who come equipped with thousands of lines of new dialog. Their banter ranges from the straight-up quirky ("Did you know I was crowned Little Miss paranormal?") to the wacky ("That's vicious, like a poison viper with laser eyes.") to quirky-wacky ("Just think of all the cornbread you could conjure if you knew magic!"). The types of interactions you might have with a villager have also increased. Now they may want to play hide-and-seek with you for cash and prizes, or teach you a new nickname (and not the other way around). Other times, they'll get locked out of their house, and ask you to find their key (which can only be obtained by fishing for it in the river). "

"It's the Wii Speak features that really make City Folk stand out. There still aren't formal "games" you can play online, but if you do want to create your own activities (hide-and-seek, bug/fish-catching tournaments, snowball soccer, torture-the-villager competitions, zombie Mii mask-enabled Left 4 Dead matches, etc.), Wii Speak makes the process much more fun. It's hard to imagine ever going back to text-based chat now. With Wii Speak, running around and yelling at your friends in City Folk really feels like being a kid again, running around in a friend's backyard and playing with sticks. That's an experience that you just can't have if you need to stop and text every five seconds. "

I will never stop. Look at this, in Smash bros Brawl they recreated the Animal Crossing music better than the game itself:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=iFEpNtN4JXE

Why couldn't Animal Crossing just use the Smash Tunes and slow things down a bit?

Holy Hell, the Roost music from Animal Crossing in Smash Bros Brawl.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xWMrJcnTtJY&feature=related

Why not put this in the actual game? Nintendo are fucking inexplicable! They are so hard to read, so WTF, that they piss me off, yet keep me on the edge and excited/deflated.

Ravenprose, turns out there is a lot about this game I dont know, new stuff.

Gracies has seasonal clothing/furniture apparentely and does an end of season sale but some stuff sells out. So in the spring her shop will have completely new stuff. Happy

Here is a holiday list:

(list corresponds to American holidays and may vary by region)

January 1st: New Year's Day
February 2nd: Groundhog Day
February 14th: Valentines Day
April 1st: April Fool's Day
April 22nd: Nature Day
May (2nd Sunday): Mother's Day
June (3rd Sunday): Father's Day
August (Every Sunday): Fireworks Show
September (1st Monday): Labor Day
October 31st: Halloween
November 1st: Mushroom Finding Begins
November 30th: Mushroom Finding Ends
December 25th: The Night that Jingle Comes to Town (Christmas)
December 31st: New Year's Eve Countdown

GASP Night that Jingle comes to town? OMG I cannot wait.

Apparently your pears will sell in my town for 300 bells and my peaches vice versa.

And yeah, you are right, you can sell turnips in each others towns and take advantage of the stalk market. And each day there will be one rock in town that will yield cash if banged with a shovel.

Desire to buy Animal Crossing immediately after I get home from exams next week has risen to 80%.

Even though I'll only have 2 weeks to play it.... Anyone know how I can hook my Wii up to my laptop to use the display? Cuz then I'd be bringing my Wii back to university with me. All it's got is 2 phone jack/ethernet type ports, one roundish one (9 pins), and one rectangular one (15 pins, possibly called a "d-sub input" or generally used for some kind of VGA connection).

Will something like this do it?

Damn animal tracks. According to that thread, even the animals in your town will wear down the grass. I'm going to post up "KEEP OFF THE GRASS" signs today. Nyaa

The 2nd snowball usually a bitch to find. It took me a half hour to find mine; it's usually hidden behind trees. They supposedly reset if you go in and out a building, so if you can't find it, try that. That also works if you accidentally destroy a snowball too, but I'm sure you already knew that from ACWW. Oh, and I got a Snowman Dresser in the mail too. Perfect snowman rule!

 Awesome info there, GG!

Yeah, Jingle was in the GC version. He's cool.

I thought  forgein fruit sold for 500 bells each? At least they sold for that in ACWW. I haven't sold one yet in ACCF. I keep planting them! LOL

My Nook's is buying Turnips for 159 bells today. Whew! I made back all my original investment, and made a nice 51% profit too! Happy

I've always wondered how to hook a console up to a laptop. I have no idea if that device will will work, but it sounds cool. I've been wanting to get a video capture device, so that I can make my own Youtube videos, but I haven't taken the time research them properly yet.

EDIT:

I just check and forgein fruit do sell for 500 bells each. I also got a slingshot today! Yay! Now I can finally shoot down those damn smug balloons that have been taunting me for weeks now!

No axe for sale today, GG. So I can't send you one yet. Sad

It depends on the holiday, but usually the town gets decorated and there's a special guest and/or party. On Thanksgiving, Franklin the Turkey showed up. I won't spoil what happens, but it's was pretty funny.

Don't think so. You need a VGA box I would assume. You have to be careful about what you buy though. The good news is that you can get ones that work with HDTVs too and scale the picture up to a matching resolution. But to be honest, I dont know if you can hook up an external source to a laptop screen. I know you can hook a wii up to a normal PC monitor.

Hmm, the frog thing might have been because it was unearthed in my town, I handled it and then you took it home. What would have happened if you handled one of my items like a chair and then left empty handed? We have to test this. I made my snowman and got some wallpaper but for some reason he disappeared?

So fruit is 500 bells? Holy cow that's a big markup from the 100 bell peaches I have. If I had an axe I would chop down my peaches and plant more pears. My coconut tree vanished. I planted it on the beach but I think I put it too close to the sea.

New pics, my new mature hairdo

In the city there was a small gathering

This is my Iguanadon fossil

My Mammoth

I got hit

My frog statue reclaimed from Raven Happy

My Snowman who disappeared when turned the Wii on and then off, even though I saved. Weird.

This is Pete the mail man, he fancies Phyliss and says that we are love rivals.

You have to plug something into a USB port in order to display on a Laptop screen. There's no direct-to-monitor hookup on laptops; at least, none that I've ever seen anyway. Unfortunately, I've read that many USB video capture devices have noticable lag of a few seconds.

Yeah, we'll have to try out that item ownership thing. I always thought you didn't own it until you saved your game with it in your possession.

You have to plant coconut trees on the grass near the edge of the sand, but not in the sand. I'd send you another coconut, but I already planted the two that I had today. I'll send you one in 3-4 days when my new trees bare fruit again. Happy

It's weird that your snowman vanished. Mines still in my town, but he's considerably smaller today than he was yesterday. I guess he's melting. Sad

Nice Christmas outfit, GG. Grinning

Oh, yeah! I met Pete the other day when he was delivering mail. I forgot all about it until now.
