Without spoiling much here, I'll say that I totally agree with your assessment.
Excellent blog!!!!! I agree with so much, I will do a version of my breakdown of the story as well. One major correction though and it involves a massive spoiler
Ellie stops fighting Abby because the flash she gets is NOT of dying Joel. In that instance she saw Joel with his guitar on the porch, the final meeting they had. This signifies that she will finally remember Joel living, not him dying. That's why she stopped
