So Bleach has surprised me, from the end of season 8 to season 10 it's actually been pretty great. It doesn't have great continuity, so at first it will swap between the main storyline and side stories without warning you and you're left thinking - hang on weren't they in there, why are they here now? Once you understand that the main story is being cut up with side stories it becomes more understandable and it's fleshing out the world of the soul society a bit better. Bleach has been a mixed quality series in placed but overall I'd glad I stuck it through, there's some memorable and enjoyable stuff in there, if you have the willpower to power through.

So I watched the first episode of Un Go. Usually I wait before giving impressions because every episode is only 20 mins without credits and opening episodes are rarely good. But Un Go's first ep was great.

It's the closest thing to a Phoenix Wright anime or more accurately the closest thing to an Ace Prosecutor anime I've seen. So a few years in the future, there's this Chairman who solves crimes and is a consultant to the worlds government and he's highly revered etc. He sits in a room and watched multiple computer screens. Anyhow there is this detective the last of the great detectives, or the worlds biggest failure as a detective depending on who you talk to. And within the first episode they work through a murder case and solve it. It's all done at a fairly breathless pace and feels quite refreshing as a series.

Saw ep 2 of Un Go.

Not as good as the first, but what's annoying about this series is they throw up characters names/occupations in japanese text and with English subs. But they're only on screen for a couple of seconds and you have to really pause. It feels like a cop out, instead of properly introducing the murder suspects with dialogue and exposition they throw up: "Umi Ukamo - President Kawachimas daughter" in text.

But then, 2 seconds later they do it for another character and 2 seconds later another character. You get to a point where you haven't had enough time to digest all these similar sounding Japanese names and properly associate them with the character models in question. You have to be really on the ball and sharp in your mind to concentrate on this stuff sometimes.

FUNimation grabs the rights for Bayonetta anime in N.A

Flower Mound, Texas (June 18, 2014) – FUNimation® Entertainment announced today it has acquired U.S. & Canadian rights to the full-length feature film BAYONETTA: Bloody Fate. From the team that brought you the Emmy nominated AFRO SAMURAI RESURRECTION, studio GONZO and internationally acclaimed director Fuminori Kizaki have come together once again to create this feature-length animated film based on the hugely popular video game franchise “BAYONETTA.” The film faithfully captures the extreme action and sexiness of the original, crafting a storyline that expands and further establishes the world of the sexy, shape shifting witch, Bayonetta.

Director Fuminori Kizaki will be making an appearance as a guest of honor at this year’s Anime Expo in Los Angeles, July 3-6 where a “sneak peek” of the English dub of BAYONETTA: Bloody Fate will be shown for fans at the convention, along with a special Q&A with Director Kizaki following on Saturday, July 5th, at 8:15pm in Video 1.

Fuminori Kizaki started his career in the animation industry at Studio Giants and, soon after, joined Studio Hercules. After he moved to Gonzo, Kizaki directed “AFRO SAMURAI” which found success in the worldwide market. The sequel, “AFRO SAMURAI RESURRECTION”, was nominated for the Outstanding Animated Program (for programming one hour or more) at the 61st Emmy Awards. His latest work is X-MEN (animated TV series, director). FUNimation plans to release the film on Blu-ray and DVD later this year and Nintendo announced earlier this month at E3 that Platinum Games will be releasing the BAYONETTA 2 video game exclusively for the Nintendo Wii U this October.

Be sure to ‘Like’ FUNimation’s official BAYONETTA: Bloody Fate Facebook page for all the latest news and details regarding the film and cast: https://www.facebook.com/BayonettaMovie

I saw a 2 part story of Un Go, yeah this is the closest thing you will get to a Phoenix Wright Anime. There's not much comedy or courtroom stuff but otherwise this is right up there with what Phoenix Wright does great, leftfield crime scenarios, twists galore and a detective and his assistent on the case. Also  mixes in some weird supernatural elements.

Great stuff so far, but you have to really be on the ball and pause and read the names/character details that pop up every few minutes to follow the story properly.

There's only 11 episodes and 1 movie made. And it's done by BONES, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood studio Happy

Un-Go (アンゴ, Ango;text-decoration:none;">?) is a 2011 anime television series produced by Bones which aired on Fuji TV's noitamina program block between October 13, 2011 and December 22, 2011. Based on the noted Japanese intellectual and novelist Ango Sakaguchi's novel Meiji Kaika Ango Torimono-chō (明治開化 安吾捕物帖;text-decoration:none;">?), the series is directed by Seiji Mizushima and written by Shō Aikawa, who had earlier worked together on Fullmetal Alchemist

Un-Go is set in a war-torn Tokyo, in a near-future Japan. In response to Japan sending their military abroad as peacekeeping forces, terrorists launched multiple attacks on Japan, killing many people and destroying much of its cityscapes. Some time after the war receded to a period of uneasy peace, the Japanese Parliament passed the "Information Privacy and Protection Act", which gives the Japanese government some control over the Internet and consumer products.[lease_clarify">clarification needed] This new Tokyo is where detective Shinjuurou Yuuki and his strange partner Inga make a living in solving crimes and exposing human souls, all influenced in some way by this dystopian backdrop.

Finished Un Go.

It started strongly then became very weird then finished okay. It's only 11 episodes with 1 OVA which is a 50 minute episode 0.

I would start with episode 0- zero. Overall it's an okay anime.

Saw Bleach: Hellverse.

Decent movie, nice production values, better than movie 1 but worse than movie 2 the Diamond Dust rebellion.

I started a hunt for music from Fairytail artists, came across "Idoling" it's a huge group of like 20-30, late teen to 30 year old Japanese girls, who do a lot of live concert stuff.

After watching this, I understand Rhythm Heaven a little better. There's even this weird video they did which is like they are talking to a lovestruck Japanese school kid - in first person no less.

Oh and I saw most of the Mardock Scramble 2 anime movie. Turned it off 10 minutes from the end. Gloriously polished animation, boring as hell script.

Sword Art Online II

Episode 1 aired this morning, and (I think) SOA fans crashed Crunchyroll's servers! LOL I couldn't access the site until now, anyway. Good first episode, that sets up this season well. I can't wait to see more. Happy It's going to be painful to have to wait a week to see each episode, though. Sad

I would wait a few weeks then bulk watch them.

I saw the first 2 eps of Samurai 7. Good stuff so far, coherant and cohesive, which is always a plus cause some anime is all over the place.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samurai_7

Samurai 7 (サムライセブン, Samurai Sebun;text-decoration:none;">?) is a 2004 anime TV series, produced by Gonzo and based on Akira Kurosawa's highly regarded 1954 movie Seven Samurai.

Samurai 7 tells the story of a village named Kanna. Every year during the harvest, a group of bandits come and steal away almost all of the rice that had been harvested that year. Not only that, the bandits are becoming more demanding, now taking women and children in addition to rice.

The elder of Kanna Village has decided that to protect the village they must hire samurai to fight against the bandits. However, the village has no money and thus must find samurai willing to protect the village for a payment of rice. Three members of the village leave to attempt to recruit samurai. They travel to the city and search for samurai willing to work, and after finding several samurai and having a few encounters with the local government, they return to Kanna village to prepare defenses against the bandits.
