Lets give this a shot see if anyone wants to do it. Lets do a tournament bracket for greatest 80s song. I think we should have 32 songs, split into four brackets each with its own category. Pop, Rock, one hit wonderst, and love/breakup song. Then the final four go head to head.

So nominees, what should go into the tournament.

For pop I say both Billy Jean and Beat It should be in. There needs to be Madonna, I say Like a Prayer,  Out of Touch, In the air tonight, Everybody wants to rule the world, Hungry like the wolf, Dont dream its over

Rock I say Living on a Prayer, Pour some suger on me, Shook me all night long, welcome to the jungle, here I go again, Don't Stop Believing, Sister Christian, I still haven't found what I am looking for

One hit wonders I got Tainted Love, Come on Eileen, I ran, Take on Me, I melt you, 8675309 Jenny, She Blinded me with Science, Der Komissar

Love/breakup songs I don't want to use your love tonight, take me home tonight, Every breath you take, I aint missing you, Is this love, with or without you, the way you make me feel, keep on loving you

Shit so many amazing songs, stuff like Down Under, Every body have fun tonight, when doves cry, love is a battlefield, sweet child o mine, you spin me right round, bah there is a million.

We need to narrow this down.

I think I will put for Pop: New Year's Day by U2, Cruel Summer by Bananarama, Deadman's Party by Oingo Boingo, and Once in a Lifetime by Talking Heads

Rock: Halloween by Helloween, Four Horsemen by Metallica, The Trooper by Iron Maiden, Princess of the Night by Saxon, Fast as a Shark by Accept, and Rock till you Drop by Raven.

One Hit Wonder: Whisper to a Scream (Birds Fly) by Icicleworks, Major Tom Coming Home by Peter Schilling, and Turning Japanese by the Vapors.

I thought the album was released in 1989 but yeah you are right I will have to eliminate that from my list.

We got some people involved but what I need is some sort of list of best 80s songs that  have to be on a greatest 80s song tournament. Its too hard a topic I think.

It's so irrational.

I mean, I think of Pour Some Sugar on Me and Welcome to the Jungle and Beat It... and my brain breaks. And those are probably all 4th tier songs for consideration.

We need categorization man.

Like: "Sexiest 80's Song Involving a Car Wash", or "80's Song You Air-Guitared the Most Too".
