How extensive is the farming in this game? Because what I really want is a Harvest Moon style game, not just picking up crap and selling it. I know you can plant fruit trees, but can I actually make a full-sized garden with rows and rows of vegetables?

There is no farming. This is not Harvest Moon. You can plant fruit trees and flowers and cut the trees down and pick up the flowers. You can crossbreed flowers but that is simply done by planting different flowers next to each other. It is mostly planting fruit trees where you want and selling the fruit, or hacking down the odd tree.

Hmm, thanks for the info, guys. I think I'll do the GG trick and keep WiiConnect on but turn the system off manually. The last thing I need is another system dying on me. And yeah, I'd love to crash at your town someday, GG so you can give me stuff for free! Grinning
I'll add your codes later today. It's a shame I start nightshifts this week, as that will leave me little spare time on weekends to play this wonderful game. I have an issue with this: I only have time to play it at night, and its real time feature leaves me with practically no things to do at 1 in the morning. Lol, WTF am I supposed to do?

The game allows you to fiddle with the game clock before you start. So instead of clicking "Let's start" check out the options and change the in game clock. Most characters wake up from 9:00 to 10:00 am.

Which is the best way to make money early in the game?

I caught my first fish today! Actually, they were two of them, but a fucking penguin asked me to exchange my fish for a wall color and I couldn't say no. I can't say no to anyone in those types of games. I hope nobody asks me to bend over and grab my ankles.

I just realized that I only need two more fruit to have all the different varieties: Apples and Oranges.

Oh, and awesome job getting Wii Speak, GG! I got your message a few mintues ago. Wii Speak Rules!

If you have the shovel, you can get money from one of your town's rocks each day by hitting it with your shovel. Only one rock has money each day, and it's a random rock. Once you find the money rock, try to hit it as many times as you can to get as much money as possible. You only have 10 seconds, though. I usually get 7 bags of money out of it which is around 8000 bells.

Catching and selling fish, sea shells and fruit to Nook will also get you some quick money. You can sell just about everything in the game.

Can I at least chop down all the trees in the city and re-plant them in neat rows to fulfill my OCD needs?

Second-doubting this game again. I watched an hour of gameplay on Gamespot and it seems like you can run from top to bottom or left to right of the entire world in about 30 seconds, and the only things in the game are collecting seashells, picking fruit, catching fish so you can make money to buy and decorate stuff, and social bullshit. Please tell me there's a lot more to it than this. Looks like a minigame at this point.

A mini-game? Ha! If it is, then it's most awesomest mini-game ever because I've put about literally hundreds of hours into this series.

It is what it is, I guess. You either click with the game or you don't.

When you say early, you are talking a couple of weeks or more. The real time calender/clock dictates that. The best thing to do at first is to shake down all your fruit and sell it, but that is a lot of effort. Fishing and selling those fish is more lucrative.

When you have a few thousand bells, search around on Sunday morning for this warthog and buy some shares/turnips. Then you have to check the turnip/share price at Nook's each day to see if the value is up or down. If it's up you can make a nice profit, if it''s down do not sell. But you have to sell by Saturday or you lose all your investment.

You can do that. I had a row of regal looking trees coming down from the museum in wild world.

The game is not a huge world to explore, it's a little town you relax in. The motive if there is one is to get richer, buy lots of shit, like hundreds and hundreds of items/wallpapers etc. Collecting and bulding your own little virtual slice of life. It sounds simple but if/when you get into it, it can become ridiculously addictive. I played the DS game everyday for a year, totally up more hours than Oblivion. It's not a traditional game. I tried it to see what it was like and hated it at first and then it was like a drug. I will say though that it's a game you are suppossed to play a little of each day over a long period of time. So if you typically like to burn through a whole game and see everything in a few days, you wont get that here. This game reveals its rewards in tiny portions over an extended period.

And Steel, would you add my code? Have you checked it? Because it hasn't connected us yet.

I added both you and Raven's codes already. I tried getting into your towns last night, but couldn't do it. I put your codes and town names, but when the game asked me for your names I put only GG and Raven. Could it be that I have to put your character's names as well? This game delivers tiny doses of awesome at every turn of the road! I can see myself playing this for a long, LONG time.

I went in a fishing rampage yesterday and paid my house in full! Yay!

Of course, fucking Tom asked me immediately afterwards to make my house bigger, and being me, I didn't say no. I'll have to see how much do I owe him now.

Found my first dinosaur bones as well. And a trap. What does that one do?

And where can I find insects. Are those not out in winter?

Some trees have lights! Tiny christmas trees! Lol.

And I caught a tire while fishing. That was odd.

The game doesn't ask for our names, just the town name and code. Check the online code thread to make sure you have the spelling right and codes right. Make sure it's case sensitive: Fortress, not fortress. Loontown, not loontown. You can leave the comments blank. Your town is Chestnut right? I have added your system code too, add mine. I have WiiSpeak now too. I can send you audio messages.

You should try leaving your gate open all the time unless you want to go to the city.

You paid off your house so soon? Holy hell that must have been a huge fishing rampage. Do you donate to the museum? You play at 1am? If you can play between 3-5am I could open my gate or vice versa. What do you say? I could get up early.

Your house is ever expanding, in the DS game you had a big main room, 3 side rooms and a room on level 1 of the house in addition to the attic. Don't know how many rooms in this game but you will need the space to put all your favourite items. This game though has 4 houses you can own. Imagine the cash and time you will have to spend to fill them all?

In City Folk you can also donate money to the town fund and get a lighthouse, fountain, or windmill and bridge.

The pitfall seed/traps do nothing but annoy. But you can plant them to have fun with the residents or other gamers. Push them in etc. Insects are scare in the winter, you will see tons of them in the summer. If you really want them then bang rocks with your shovel, shake down trees.

Did you buy the festive tree from Nook?

Dump the tyres and boots in the recycle bin in the town hall. The best thing you can do is to write lots of letters and use seashells as gifts. You will get great items in return.  Oh and talk to the left dog at the gate and ask him for lost and found, sometimes there will be items for grabbing there.

This crown cost a million bells!

2i77epy.jpg

I had shy of 2000 bells. I spent 50'000 on turnips on Sunday.

Shake the non-fruit trees too, Steel. I got a bunch of cool items and a TON of money out of them. Just watch out for bees; they will sting you. If you have the net, you can catch them.

I am pretty sure I have your town names and codes right. I'll check them again this afternoon before work. Yeah, my town is Chestnut. I've donated a few fossils to the museum. You can donate living stuff?

I start nightshifts today, and the upcoming month I'll be playing on a semiregular basis. I'll usually be playing from about 9-12 pm my time. And a bit more on weekends, but weekends will be irregular because sometimes I work on sundays. You and me are 7 hour apart, right? I can play this saturday at about 7 or 8 am my time, that should be about 1 or 2 pm your time. We do have to get connected first.

Another day in Chestnut.

So I found out that Tom already expanded the main room of my house. Naturally, I dropped by his joint to know how much will he charge for that one and...
120,000????
Are you fucking kidding me, Tom?
My ENTIRE HOUSE costed me 19,000 and you are charging me 120,000 for making a fucking room bigger? You slimy son of a bitch. Fortunately he doesn't care much about getting his money back, but paying him all that money is going to take a while.
Son of a bitch.

Something weird happened today. I was wandering about the town, and the penguin asked me to buy some plant from him. He wanted over 4 or 5 grand for it, and I had a very recent memory of him ripping me off with a floor or some shit. So I told him no. I wasn't going to buy his shitty plant. So he gets all blue and depressed and goes away for a while. I forgot about him, but after fishing for a bit, I got back to Tom's joint to sell my catch, and I find Al with his panties in a bunch wanting me to buy some other weird shit from him. A floor I think. The thing is that he wanted less money, like a grand or so. So I tell him sure, and buy the damn thing and away he goes. Shortly after, I see both Al and the penguin hanging around together, and immediately after that, the penguin comes down to where I am standing, severely pissed off. I tried to talk to him, but he was fucking mad, lol. He said he didn't want to talk to me. I wonder if he found out that I bought that shit from Al instead of buying his shit. This game is fucking something else. Like, the dog's bollocks.

I went to the theater and learned to cry. Now I am crying in every fucking conversation, just to spice things up a bit, lol.

I bought a gas mask. I look like a fucking serial killer with it. I'm not taking this one off ever.
Also, what do the small, weird statue thingies are for? The ones you dig?

He upgrades your house each time you pay off the loan though. You can get second floors and adjacent rooms. You'll need it for all the items in the game. You know that you can store items in bureaus/drawers/refridgerators?

Oh and each snow covered day there should be two snowballs in town. Roll them around to make a snowman and if you do it right you get special ultra rare snow items. But you have to do it right, so make the bottom one huge and the top ball slightly smaller.

That penguin must hate you now. Grinning You got the gas mask? You can get a Friday the 13th hockey mask too.

The gyroids are just for display. But given that they emit sounds you can put combinations together to build sounds or augment tunes - no rewards for it, just to play around. They are worth a lot  of cash at Nooks but you CANNOT re-order them from the catalogue so try them out before you decide to just get rid of them. If you see Brewster everyday for a long while he will eventually offer to store them if you are holding one at the time.

Your name has a heart next to it on my friend page, but it's hollow, Ravens name has a solid heart, maybe because we have met already? Something is happening but I still can't send you messages yet.

I couldn't possibly do 21:00 to 0:00 mexico time. But yeah on weekends in particular I could do anytime between 4am - 4pm Mexico time. Which is 2am-2pm Raven Colorado time.

This weekend is crap though. My bro is bringing his pregnant partner home so family duties Sad Ugh. I can play but I can't guarantee any times. Which is crap really.

Here's another tip, whenever you play leave your gate open, and always select invite guests rather than I want to go out. It tells you if someone has their gate open automatically so you can always cancel it, otherwise the dog will just open your gate. But the gate must be shut if you want to go to the city.

I know about drawers and shit. But I haven't seen any of those outside the expensive-as-fuck store at the city. 120 grand for a fucking drawer? No thanks.

Oh shit, so that's what the snowballs are for, I've been rolling them to the beach everyday to watch them melt in the water, lol.

A Friday 13th mask? Cool. I need that one too.

Nice tip on the gyroids. I sold them already.

Fission mailed. Nightshifts were called off, so I have pretty much all weekends free now. Weeknights about the same time, but I can play at any time on weekends, provided we set something up here before. I have to carefully schedule weekends because of the wife and kids.

And send my congratulations to your brother and partner. Waiting for a baby is awesome. As long as you are not the one carrying it, of course. LOL My wife just sent me a mental groin kick. I'll start leaving my gate open.

Nook sells bureaus/drawers etc, but you have to wait for them to appear in the store. I could send you one if the game every allows me. They are usually quite cheap, between 2000-3700 bells. But some character may give you one as a gift if you write them a letter and attach a gift like a shell.

I'm pretty much free till the new year so anytime:

4am-7pm Mexico time is possible.

Which is 2 am -5pm Raven Colorado time:

My bro is just going to get me to babysit and buy gifts. Why can't the man keep his groin in check damnit? The second the baby throws up on me it's going to the pound.
