From the FAQ section of thevgpress.com:

What's with the gopher?

Bindle the Gopher, currently seen in our logo, is most noteworthy for not being a mole.  He symbolizes the underground nature of The VG Press' origins and stature as well as the relentless ability of our community to dig up video gaming news where ever it may be.  When the gopher was first unveiled a certain level of controversy arose regarding the use of him in our logo with the consensus of the community preferring a caricatured talking penis, penguins, press hats or children (or possibly a combination thereof).

The dude who makes the effort to actually make the logo gets to pick the logo. (Just like the music selections in the podcast Nyaa )

I've read all my PMs but my envelope mail icon remains open? Strange.

Yeah, mine does that too until I close the site and come back.  It always fixes itself pretty quickly.

The header and menu do not reload when you click a link on the site, only the body of the page does, so the part of the page that has the mail image doesn't refresh.  If you click the logo in the top left to return to the home page, it will do a full page refresh and it will update.  The same effect would be entering http://thevgpress.com into the address bar and hitting enter.

Just a question really.  Why do some favicons turn up next to some stories (eitehr onthe front page or on the Big Board) and others don't?  There was a time when they all showed up, but now it's just andriasang and tinycartridge.

That'll be on the list of things to look at when I have time.  The methodology is a kludge of a solution -- the favicon is attempted to be grabbed heuristically, primarily from the HTML markup.  From there, a determination of whether it's a valid image or not.  Sometimes it doesn't get it.

The icons are cached, so if the functionality stopped working entirely for some reason, the cached favicons would still work.

Ahh. Okay.  I was not sure if it was something my browser was doing.

Yeah, it was cool when they were all there, added some color. Thanks Yoda.

For some reason the text editor wont actually change the colour of fonts. I highlight the text, click the A logo with colours, click colour and nothing happens. It's been like that for a long time now.

Confirmed weird bug in Opera.  Also seems to add a random line break.

It seems you have to refresh the page manually:

http://thepressroompodcast.com/

whenever it is visited.

The site generates an HTML page, so browsers like to cache it.  The hard refreshes updates the browser cache.

Thanks for what you did yesterday Yoda. The site was having trouble and now it's back again, I hopped in Skype last night but I think I missed you. I know things have been rough for you lately, and wanted to thank you for your efforts.

The last couple times the site has been down, it's been server issues (running out of space -> MySQL crashing).  Hopefully getting sorted out this weekend, but who knows since it's been forever with this.

And sorry about the last couple times you've tried messaging.  I've been in-game and busy both times.

Yoda, what the situtation with the servers? I got this weird message a couple of days ago when i tried to view the site. It said that they had emailed you continuously but you might have missed it because it might have been an old email account. And that the servers were being shut off on sept 9th.
