I like Halo, I think RE4 is polished to a shine though compared to most other games, including Halo 1.

RE4 was a completly new game, that's why it got my vote. And it was perfect from start to finish, whereas Halo: CE had some faults.

It's one of the most critically lauded games of all time. It was just under Ocarina of Time on gamerankings for years.

I played both Nintendo versions: GC and Wii. I hated the Wii Remote controls. The GC controls worked well enough, but I prefer being able to move and shoot at the same time, which I can do in Halo. 
Oh, and RE4 helped start the whole QTE craze nonsense. 
Meh, I think RE4 Wii controls are praised way more than they should. They only added IR aiming to an archaic control scheme.

Yeah, a lot of people who know a lot about games really liked Metroid Prime. I just don't understand how it made it past so many other good games in this tournament.
EDIT: I just checked who it was up against in this tournament.
Round 1: beat Deus Ex
Round 2: beat MGS2
Round 3: beat Uncharted 2
I guess if you are using Gamerankings as a guide, UC2 is better than Metroid Prime. And so is GTA4 
It works perfectly fine, I would prefer IR turning but it was fine without that. That it's not a run and gun game so your character's abilities are perhaps more limited than in some F/TPS doesn't mean it's archaic.

Metroid Prime is one of the single greatest games of all time, that is why its beaten all those games. I think it should beat SMG but that is just me.
