I'm serious.  I'm starting to get depressed about not finishing games this year.  So far the only one I have beaten is Earth Defense Force 2017, and that was a co-op effort with the Mrs. Aspro.  I've started and not finished probably 10 or more games this year including the likes of Phantom Hourglass, Star Wars TFU, Mercenaries, RE5, NSMBWii, NSMBDS, Alien Syndrome and many... many more.

Gaming is what keeps me going when I'm thinking about nothing.  It's the activity where I can reflect on that boss I can't beat, or what mission I should take next.  But right now, I'm sucking.  A lot.  And it's affecting me in my real life.

This is not one of those usually "I'm kind of off gaming right now" scenarios.  I want to game, I just can't find anything that is hooking me.  I just started and got sick of Star Wars: TFU, a game that I anticipated greatly.  The combat is too loose.  I thought that I could fall back on a Futbol game like World Soccer 06 on the PSP, and it got me by, but I've been in campaign mode for 9 hours now and I'm stuck on beating Africa.  Yes, that's right AFRICA.  I can't beat them.

So I don't know what the hell I'm going to do.

I say go back to some old favourites, and just stick it on easy! There's no shame.
Though you wouldn't be finishing new, it mgiht be what you need to get back into it!

I go through that too, like the whole console RPG thing I've been going through.

Lately, I've been playing a lot of these games on the easiest setting. Yeah, it feels a little embarrassing since I've been gaming for so many years, but sometimes I just want to have fun and not think when I play and get through with a game. Unless if a game is too easy, than I play them on a more difficult setting.

When I go through these spells I stick with games that I can play whenever I want to that requires less commitment. Fighting games come to mind. I can play where I left off and not feel stressful or guilty about it.

I agree with Foolz and stick with favorites and play on easy.

I guess we're getting old. When I was younger, I thrived on unlocking everything and playing on the most difficult setting. Not anymore. I just want to rush it and get it over with.

There's something to be said for games that are slight, have no faff and dont bother you. For instance I cannot be bothered finishing Spirit Tracks because of the BS last Tower of Spirits section. And yet I can happily play the mediocre Indiana Jones Staff of kings because its easy, it keeps moving, its slight, mildly entertaining but most importantly no hassle.

Play Pac-Man C.E. That game always puts a smile on my face. Happy

there is a country called Africa?

anyway, hope it is a passing phase, all it takes is one good game to hook you back in.  this kind of disenchantment with games happens to me a lot.  right now it's the opposite though.  there's so many games i want to play and really put time into.  but i haven't got that much free time

@bugs. In this game after you beat all the challenges in Africa you have to beat the Africa All-Stars to advance to the next continent.

Last night I started a GBA game called Sigma Star. It was published by NAMCO.  It is a RPG with side-scrolling shooting elements, so we'll see.  It might be different enough t break the curse.

I got out of this kind of cycle through JRPGs.  They typically allow you to relax and just enjoy the game in a more passive way, unlike something with a lot of action where you have to be very focused all the time.

I'm in that kind of gaming rut as well. At least I have ME2 this week to cheer me up Grinning

Endless Ocean might cure you. No meter, no danger, soothing music.

I'm starting to see a pattern here.

Apparently, to GG, Endless Ocean is the cure-all to everything.
