Game #25 – Fruit Ninja

Publisher: Halfbrick

Developer: Halfbrick

Platform: iOS

The best games can also be the most simple. You don't need overly complicated mechanics or a story you need to replay over and over again to fully appreciate – you can just have one mechanic and do that very well; and that's what perfectly describes Fruit Ninja – the game where you slash thrown fruit.

It sounds incredibly stupid, but here's the thing – it's incredibly satisfying to do so. Once you've slashed at plenty of fruit, there's enough of a satisfying feel behind it that it never really feels dull to do over and over again. Plus, there's the constant element of competition with your friends, which also doesn't help the compulsion.

Really, Halfbrick deserve massive props for the support they've given the title. Since its initial release in April, the game has seen much in the way of additions – such as new modes, an rewards system, support for Apples Game Center and much more. All this for the low price of 99 cents (or $1.19 Australian).

Fruit Ninja is a testament to simple design and how it can preveal over all. Have an iOS device and haven't picked it up? Shame on you!

Merry Christmas, one and all.

Okay, NOW we've hit the bottom of the barrel.

I've heard good things about this one too -- and Halfbrick is an Aussie company too I believe.
