Gentlemen if you have me as a 3DS friend you may want to get ready to remove me. I've spent all of 5 hours playing with my 3DS in 2012 and that isn't likely to change any time soon. I've spent more time taking pictures with it than playing games on it and I think a reality has set in that I no longer have a lifestyle that really makes handheld gaming a viable way to spend time. When I worked out of a home office it was perfect for killing small bits of time (or large ones during companywide conference calls). Now that I'm in an office those opportunities are long gone. And it's not that I don't really want to play the games that are available because there's several I'm really interested in like Kid Icarus and RE:Revelations. But when I get home, the idea of staring at a small screen just doesn't appeal to me after I've already spent 8 hours staring at another computer screen from 2 feet away.

The only time I've really spent considerable time with it was during Easter weekend when I was stuck with the in-laws and that's not going to happen often enough to make me think I'll be playing it anytime soon. So as of 5 minutes ago it went up on Craigslist to see if I can trade it for something equally good that I can use. I'm loathe to just take it to Gamestop for credit since I've got around 15 eShop games on it, and those won't count for anything as a trade-in.  I'll make a note of it to everyone if I do indeed go through with it, but I wanted to post something about it now. You know, just in case you guys get a 3-D penis picture from me via Swapnotes a week from now. Just want you to know it wasn't me.

So Gaminggeek  doesn't ring true anymore? Sad

For the past few years I think I've felt like I was on this train that would never stop and you get into the whole thing about buying every big game that comes out and playing it incessently till you finish. I feel like I've grown a bit out of that. I no longer feel like I have to own the latest games and I don't really care when I play them if I do pick them up.

Much of this has to do with the E3 2012 effect where lots of games look like you have played them before. I want to see something and think: wow, I haven't seen that before.

And this attitude has served my wallet pretty well too, as if you don't rush to get the latest releases they always come down in price anyway. The lazier you are about picking them up, the cheaper they get.

There are exceptions of course and it depends on my mood too. I'm not really pressed to finish games these days unless they are really easy, if I get near enough the end it's pretty much done.
