I am a sucker for games that most other people suck. Mostly because I've found that a lot of times the conventional wisdom on a game is completely wrong and some of my favorite games have been universally disliked by others.
But then once and a while (about 4 -5 times a year) I come across a game that the developers phoned in. Games that I call 9 to 5 games, where the people who worked on them basically worked 8 hours a day and did not give a crap about the game.
I submit Brave Story: New Traveler. This is a SCE game that was released by XSEED, which is never a good sign. (That SCE doesn't want to release it, not that XSEED published it). Jesus Christ, this is an abomination. I had to come up with a new acronym to describe it BMRPG (button mashing RPG). I'll finish this thing, sure, but .... it's a dull game.
Which sums up the travesty of a 9 to 5 game. It has the production values and good story requisite for a good game, but when it came to executing, the devs failed on an epic scale.
