I am not being fair to this game cause I only played it once and that was with a friend taking turns in a few levels. That said my one time experience with it was so awesome I feel the need to show my love for it. S&P2 is your basic on rails shooter on steroids. The mechanics are as simple as they come, you move your character with the stick and you aim with the cursor, now go shoot stuff (oh and you can evade and do a melee attack).

The reason this game is so incredible is because of the unbelievable amount of insanity that fills your screen in every level. This game has some of the coolest, over the top moments you have seen in a game this gen and it happens at a rate of about one awesome moment every 3 minutes. The level design is superb, bravo to the guys at Treasure cause they took something that normally is an after thought in these games and actually made the levels themselves add to the challenge. The game doesn't just push you forward, some levels flip the camera on its side, now you are in a contra like side-scroller. Some times it becomes a vertical scroller and giant blocks are coming down as if you are trapped in a giant Tertis game, oh and by the way, a giant boss is shooting lasers at you as this is happening. You visit the most beautiful underwater tunnel I have ever seen in one level, end up in a Japanese Ninja Gaiden like location later on, and it keeps on changing.

It is so sad that the game only has about 7 levels and its only about 5 hours long. Don't worry, once you finish you will want to strap into the roller-coaster once again and go for a better score or if you dare play on a harder difficulty. Speaking of the difficulty, there are plenty of checkpoints so don't worry, if you die its fine you just wont have a good score. The worst aspect of the game is the two-player mode which is a throw away addition. The second player is simply a cursor on the screen with the normal laser power. You can't evade, you cant do melee, you can't use missiles. It is so dumbed down that its worthless which is sad cause this would be a perfect multiplayer title.

I recommend everyone to play this at least once. Even if you don't care for shooters I still say play it cause I guarantee you will be wowed by the mayhem that appears on screen.
