I want this to be a short review so lets get right to it, Resistance 2 is not as good as the original. For the majority of the game it's basically a corridor shooter. The game guides you to exactly where you need to go and what you need to do. Gone if the weapon select menu from the first, instead its Halo like where you can only carry two weapons. This removes the strategy of choosing your weapons and basically becomes what the game wants you to use. The weapons are still an interesting bunch but there weren't any interesting new weapons.

There is plenty of enemy variety and even some gigantic boss fights. They all end up being simple pattern bosses but I must give credit for a FPS that does boss fights since so many ignore them. The action spans across many different locations, many in the US and most stunning to look at. The game isn't a graphical marvel but it makes good use of colors and there are moments where there are some impressive sights to see.

The first Resistance had a great balance of corridor shooting and giant open battlefields many times with vehicles to control. There are almost no open battlefields in this one and no vehicles to pilot. I have no clue why they removed it as it was one of the best aspects of the first game. R2 feels like a more simple version of the first game, R1 is more the sequel. To top it off R2 is a shorter game as well.

I didn't get to play much multiplayer but I was in the beta so I got to play it then. It offers tons of content like co-op mode but that has issues as it takes too long and can be very difficult. I have heard that competitive mode is not as good as the first either.

Cool weapons and interesting enemies makes the game worth playing but as a rental. This is a case of a sequel not living up to the original.

I always thought Resistance was an overrated game in the 1st place. Its not BAD, but it just didn't blow me away at all and seemed pretty generic overall. So if R2 isn't as good as the original, than I probably won't even bother playing it.
