What the hell is this? This is considered a PC classic? The entire game is just the prince jumping over obstacles across a few screens, to reach buttons that will open a door to reach the next screen which has one of three different backgrounds that repeat over and over. Oh and there is combat which is HORRENDOUS. There is supposedly a parry system but you have to mash on the button and pray that the parry actually blocks the oncoming attack. Fights just end up being a frantic pushing of alternate buttons. The controls are almost broken, the jumping is horrible. It's all sluggish, your character caries his momentum in a strange way which causes you to end up flying off platforms that you are trying to stick to. There feels like there is a delay to all actions. The worst part of it all is that the game is just mindless and repetitive. you do the same exact things in the first level that you do in the last one. You jump over a pit here, spikes there, battle a dude, hit a switch, jump there, repeat. Luckily the game is only like 2 hours long, it even has a timer which is not required to finish in time in the PS3 version. The only enjoyment I got from the game is when I hit a sort of grove where I got used to the crappy controls enough to flow through the game in a timely manner. I guess speed running could be fun. I don't want to be so hard on it cause I know I am missing out on the ground breaking animation since I got the re-skinned version. Still that is no excuse for crap gameplay and minimal level design. I wish I could return PSN games. |
