That's really all there is to it. It starts out great, but just never really takes off. An easy way to describe it Is that its alot like Gears... in that its very repetitive and you do the same thing throughout the entire game. The difference is, Gears had fun combat and a good story....LP does not.

You waste more time running through levels than actually fighting. On top of that, its one of those games where they throw a million dudes on screen at once who are basically just filler for eye candy (Think Kameo). Developers always seem to use this trick around the launch of new hardware, since they know people will be impressed by the amount of enemies on screen. Don't be fooled.

Levels are mission-based; which means you'll be doing alot of running around from point to point in various mechs (which are one of the most well-done elements of the game) and on foot, both of which control exactly the same.

Really, the best thing about the game is the end of level boss fights. Some interesting ones to be sure, although the camera and controls will prove to be your toughest foe during these battles.

You really want to care about the characters, as the characters themselves are well done. But the story is so sparse and generic that it doesn't allow you to. They'll pop in and out of cut-scenes so fast, you'll be sitting there wondering what exactly their intentions are and why you're talking to them in the first place. Its very much like an old cheesy sci-fi movie that had potential to be epic, and instead turned out very amateur.

The game also has what seems to be fast becoming a standard, in multi-player deathmatching. The multi-player will keep you entertained for awhile, fighting others online in the various mechs...but then you'll realise you could be playing one of the many, better online 360 games and won't bother with it again.

On the plus side, the graphics are great with all kinds of bells and whistles all over the place. Capcom working their graphical magic again. While not as highly detailed as Gears Of War, there's a level of special effects here that Gears lacked, which somewhat of makes up for it. Sound is also well done, and surround sound is used to great effect. It really makes you feel like you're on some distant snowy wasteland.

All in all, its a great rental or possibly a buy once it reaches Platinum Hits status, but other than that you won't be missing anything to cry about. Lets hope for a sequel that has gameplay as great as the audiovisuals.

Gears had a good story? LOL

You know what broke the immersion in Gears? You move from one area to another and there are strategically placed blocks as cover, with no attempt to disguise them. Its funny how all debris convientely falls in the exact best position.

Hmmm, your review of LP doesn't encourage me. Is Keji Inafune up to the level of Shinji and Atushi? Or Kamiya?
