So I finished HOTD Overkill last night with a friend, I have not played single player. I did half of director's cut mode as well and did all the mini games. This is my mini review, again limited time with the game but whatever.

What I said before I still stand by, it is an intense shooter but having a wiimote instead of an actual lightgun hurts the experience. There are a ton of enemies on screen and it is very fast paced but its super easy. I couldn't find any difficulty modes, just extra zombie mode. Bosses are pushovers, which is sad cause many are designed well. There is no real strategy to the game, just shoot everything that moves. As you buy and upgrade guns you can use the most powerful ones with no limits, the secondary weapons have infinite ammo as well. By the end of the game I was just spraying my rifle of death.

The good is that it definetly is the closest the wii has come to recreating that light gun experience. Shooting feels great, definetly better than RE: UC. It has a good combo system that rewards accuracy. The game is a good length and the directors cut makes it even longer which is nice. The mini games felt meh to me. Above all the presentation and style of this game is top notch. If you are looking for an all action light gun type game then this is the one to get. Because the wiimote isnt a lightgun, I perfer this type of game to do something more, to add strategy and be a challenge, something that UC did that this game does not. I perfer the UC style of lightgun game but the core gameplay mechanics of HOTD is more sound. If you merge the two you would have pure awesome.

I am going to be generous with my score cause I know its a really fun game and I would probably replay it a bunch of times if I owned it. I do think its a great game.

Bad move, dont buy automatic weapons, at all. It saps all fun from the game. The directors cut is the hard mode, you have limited continues and you wouldn't likely make it to the end unless you cheap out and go for machine guns. Did you unlock the hand cannon?

Did you try dual wielding remotes?

How did you find the humour.

So I cant use weapons you are supposed to buy and upgrade cause it ruins the fun, isnt that a design issue. They should have had ammo, problem solved.

We got through the first four stages of directors cut like nothing, with the handcannon, holy shit its the win gun.

No I did not dual wield. The game was hilarious, part of why I enjoyed it so much.

The fact that you can make your own fun in a game by going against the design is not really any praise to the game itself.

Vader you forgot this part:

I perfer the UC style of lightgun game because it has Wesker.
