Ass Creed Bros. takes all that was great about AC2 and slightly expands on it. That is why I can't give it as high a score as I did AC2, the jump from the first game to the second was incredible. The jump from AC2 to ACB is minimal, still makes for a hell of a game but that wow factor is not there. Brotherhood takes place in one city, a major change to the multiple cities of the other two. Of course this city is much bigger and its Rome so there is plenty to see. The structure of the game is the same as AC2, you run around the city doing missions and completely a plethora of side missions. As you play you start to own many places in Rome, as you buy more places you can buy more items, upgrade your character and make more money. There is so much to do in this game its overwhelming. All the side missions from AC2 are back but now with more variety. New missions take you to different cities for a moment where you have to drive a vehicle of some sort, really cool stuff. The major addition is that you can train assassin's and they can help you out in combat. This is mostly done in menus but its still strangely addictive and having a personal army is awesome. I love finding the animus puzzles and completing them. There are VR missions to accomplish with rankings. Long story short, this game is packed with stuff to do and most of it is fun to do. The gameplay feels the same. Combat is the same, its all about countering. In this game you can start a kill streak which to me makes the combat even easier. Compared to Batman this system is very simplistic and its actually one of the worst aspects of the game. Traversing the world is a joy and like the second game, platforming segments are a blast. But again, its exactly like the first two. The core gameplay has not changed at all, this game just has more content. Also the story line isn't as interesting and the main assassination missions are not as exciting as the previous games. I didn't really try out the multiplayer that much but when I did it felt kind of chaotic but fun. It didn't feel like being a stealth assassin at all. It was far to frantic which felt like a giant game of hide and seek. The Assassin's Creed series remains one of the greatest yearly installment series I have ever played. Usually with the third game in just as many years there is some decline in quality but not so here. Technically this is probably the best game of the three but AC2 really improved over the first, this one kind of made baby steps and actually stepped back in a few areas. |
