I'm awaiting the payoff, then the post game explanation videos on YouTube. All these walking sims need explaining.

Earlier I entered an ornate looking brothel hellscape. Maybe media has desensitised me, but it looked pretty cool. Aside from blob monster.

^Thanks for that Travo, I was wondering the size difference between Steam Deck and S2.

Hey Robio, Sorry to see your platform delivering you 70 cents a day went away. Time to gather up your bindle and hobo over to twitch.

Thanks. I was up to a whopping $15 overall. Clearly it was my ticket to Easy Street.

That said, I am unhappy to see the platform gone. It was easier for me to find an audience there than on other apps. Better algorithm and leas competition. I'm dusting off the Twitch account tomorrow though, and see if I can find anyone there now that I have a little bit better of an idea on what I'm doing. Not crossing my fingers though.

Looking at the fires in SoCal. I remember a long time ago when the US took over Baghdad when they kicked out Hussein. And the Iraqi's were perplexed that after a month that they still did not have power or water restored or highways cleared.  I saw an interview with one of them and they were like, "You're the USA, what's the hold up?" and then went on that they have the internet and movies and see what America is capable of -- just give us first world already!  You guys can do anything.

Then you have these moments like Katrina, or Hawaii's fires or LA burning for a week and I feel a lot like that Iraqi. But we all move on and ho-hum and focus more on TikTok going away, which is the result of the executive, congress and judicial arms of our government working in unison on our behalf, and don't focus on one of the worst fires in California history, and certainly the worst in LA's history.

At least the Australian Open has some good tennis this year, and I've got to get back to Spiritfarer. I cannot beleive this came out in 2020, I only started hearing people talk about it last year.

I was listending to some commentary on what makes TikTok different, and basically it came down to they deliver content honed to you , with no conflict whereas the meta and twitter platforms thought that atagonising users with surfacing contrary views increased engagement.  (Basically trolls get more repsonses than chill users).  Which is why people who use TikiTok see a mirror of themselves.  If you are a leftist you think TikTok is biased to the left, if your a conservative you think TikTok is conservative.  Pretty easy to see why it flared up as an alternative that had to be stopped.  They could not outspend meta, alphabet and microsoft though (who could) in terms of govenment influence.

Keep in mind I use none of these, (except YouTube) so I speak from a place of complete ignorance.

Influenced greatly by my own cynicism, I think the main thing that was different about Tiktok was that it was the only serious foreign competitor to America's social media industry. Bonus points for being Chinese. Plus it is a troll move, done by people from a culture of trolling, as you have outlined in your own analysis.

But, then again, I also think the fact that non-trolling social media that was American has also been deliberately destroyed through censorship (sorry, I mean bought out and then re-designed to make it more palatable to a wider audience, e.g. Tumblr) definitely supports your cultural theory as well.

Just feed different fruit to the ship residents. Saves a lot of unnecessary cooking.

I think most of what both Foolz and Aspro have said in regards to tiktok is accurate. It does a good job of showing you what you like, without burying you in it (which is apparently the current Meta model), and reduces the drama that the other competitors promote. To that extent, there's also more strict moderation in comments and content. As someone with a dark sense of humor and a wide vocabulary, I found that frustrating at times, but it goes a long way in letting you focus on the content instead of the comments.

There were also other reasons why it was a superior platform. It paid its content creators more than the main competitors, with the exception of maybe YouTube, but That's also long form content versus snippets and he might even argue they're not really head-to-head competitors for creators. They also had an intuitive marketplace that was woven into the app itself in a fairly unobtrusive way. It gets a little obnoxious during the holidays when ad spends are up, but overall it was done in such a way that I've actually spent more there than I had on any other platform before.

And yeah at the end of the day, having meta, alphabet, and x-corp lobbying for its ban wasn't going to help. Its partial Chinese ownership already made it a big target for the national security people, but when it outperforms competitors who are big lobbyists, something bad was bound to happen.

And on the off chance none of this makes sense, I'm going to end my discussion on this here. I haven't had my first cup of coffee yet, so I can't guarantee the quality of my thoughts.

What's Tik Tok? Nyaa I went to it once, and was told I couldn't watch anything without an account, so I left.

After nearly a two month break, I have returned to Gran Turismo 7 PSVR2 this weekend. I was plesently surprised to find that the PS5 Pro patch also must've improved PSVR2 visuals/performance on the standard PS5 too. It's a bit sharper and higher quality car assets don't pop in close as previously. It's a subtle but welcome improvement.

I have also returned to Baldur's Gate 3. It's been a long time since I last played, so I started it over again from the begining. I'm playing with the same barbarian elf character as before. I had to redownload the entire 125GB game again because Gog won't install patches for some reason.

It's a social media platform that several years ago was the preferred choice for the Gen z crowd, but during pandemic it blew up in popularity across the board. It focused mainly on short video clips and was really effective at targeting your interests. But it grew to add a very good live streaming service that was accessible to everyone as it was built around using your smartphone.

They're the reason YT Shorts exist, right? I kinda hate YT Shorts. They're can be fun to watch when the content is well made, but most of it is random stolen video clips with AI voiceovers.

Not excited about Switch 2, but then again, I wasn't excited about the Series X and still got one.

If third party publishers take Switch 2 at least as seriously as Switch, especially for older ports, then I can imagine it being owned as the primary or even the sole console by many people.

There isn't much excitement in gaming hardware anymore. It's all been so refined now; evolution not revolution. I don't believe that's a bad thing. It's certainly less fun than being surprised by something unexpected. I think many of us older gamers lived through so many big shifts in the industry that we've come to expect every new generation to be a big leap in gameplay mechanics and improved graphics. That's not likely to happen often anymore.

Agree. I still struggle to see the difference between PS4 and PS5 visuals. I miss the excitement that I had for a new console cycle.

In terms of AAA it seems it's going to be supported far better than Switch 1.

You've got a lot Square Enix and Microsoft games coming and it looks like Ubisoft and EA will be supporting it. Of course with Microsoft comes Bethesda and Activision support.

Indies have always been great on Switch, there's actually a lot of PC and Switch games that are console exclusive I wasn't even aware of before.

It will be my primary console as I can't be bothered with multiple units anymore and I like the flexibility of a portable with tv support.

Matt Again is a developer on Famiboards who's been talking about Switch 2 without breaking NDA.

He says that porting from PS5 to Switch 2 will be easier than porting PS4 to Switch. He says its very capable and people will be suprised with the games it runs.

I really wish GTA6 would be on it, but GTA V didn't even come to switch.
