Now we learn Switch 2 has a 4k display output chip in the dock.
But didn't the OLED dock have 4k compliance?
"The chipset in the dock is specifically the Realtek RTD2175N-CG. Unable to find this precise model on the web, but I assume the RTD2173 is a predecessor. It’s being used in this adaptor,” the post reads.
Chipset: RTD2173
Compliant with DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI HDCP 2.2/1.4, HDR 10
Video Resolution: 720p, 1080p, 4K30Hz, 4K60Hz,4K120Hz (w/DSC), 8K30Hz and 8K60Hz (w/DSC)
Audio Support: 7.1-ch PCM
Bandwidth: Up to 32.4 Gbps
While Realtek hasn’t listed this exact chip on its site yet, it seems to be an upgraded version of the RTD2173, a chip that already supports 4K60Hz, 4K120Hz with compression, and even 8K with Display Stream Compression (DSC). The takeaway here? The Switch 2 dock may actually be capable of much more than what the dev kits are currently showing.
Still, nothing is confirmed yet, and it’s always smart to treat this stuff with a bit of skepticism until Nintendo gives the official word.
Poor Val. He's always been one of my favorites. Top secret, Willow, The Doors, etc. well those were just awesome movies. And if you guys haven't seen it for some reason, you need to watch kiss kiss bang bang. It's become a Christmas tradition in my house, even though it's basically a Christmas movie and the way that die hard is a Christmas movie. He's incredible, and it's pretty much the reason why Robert Downey Jr got cast as iron Man.
Wish I could watch the treehouse. I want to see the games and I really want a Prime 4 release date. Probably Fall.
I went over the footage and Prime 4 has the best textures of any video there.
Just the increased RAM makes more of a difference than most else.
I hope other games get finished with higher quality textures. So weird there was no DLSS at all in any game shown. I wonder if it's something they will enable just before a game releases.
Eurogamer did an article on Switch 2s price, comparing it in regions and adjusting it for inflation.
I've posted the whole text in the Switch 2 thread but here's the main takeaway for me:
Eurogamer said:
Still, accounting for inflation, the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle works out cheaper in the UK than the original Switch with a copy of Breath of the Wild in 2017.
To directly compare the consoles alone, £280 for the original Switch works out at £367.40 today with inflation, still cheaper than Switch 2. However, throw in the big launch game and it's a better deal - an original Switch with a separate copy of Breath of the Wild cost £340 at launch in 2017, which works out at £446.13. That's pricier than the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle.
Over in Europe, the Switch 2 console costs €469.99, or €509.99 for the Mario Kart World bundle. That's equivalent to the cost in the UK.
It's a different story in other parts of the world, however.
I received my Atari 7800+ and a sealed copy of Frenzy. I haven't opened either up yet but I'm a bit surprised that the 7800+ console was heavier than I'd expected.
Also Frenzy, which was never released back in the day, looks exactly like a 1989 7800 release. This will be the first sealed 7800 game I've open in over 30 years.
I ordered a brand new set of CX30+ Paddle controllers from Atari too. I should have them in a few days.
This almost feels like getting a brand new console except the price is reasonable, lol.
Useless.
What's Nintendo music like? I have no Switch online.
So anyway, someone bid £100 for my old copy of Jet Force Gemeni.
And my bank is giving every customer £50 as a reward as they merged with another bank.
I also stored up amazon gift card balance from Christmas. Switch 2 is virtually paid for.
Then my car insurance is due in 2 weeks at £1700 FFS....
Must be alot to show.

An updated Pilotwings would be great but we need to keep the SNES tunes.
Val Kilmer passed away at the age of 65. R.I.P.
R.I.P. Loved him in Top Secret.
3 mins till Switch 2 direct.
Get in Robios thread nao!
I checked the list of switch 1 games with backwards compatibility problems on Switch 2.
Out of everything there's only a few I own that bother me:
Dex
Elderand
Doom Eternal
The Journey Down trilogy
Dust and Elysian Tale
Saints Row 4
With Nintendo's new console price, I can't help but wonder how much a PS6 would cost if tariffs are still in place when it launches.
Wait, how much is PS5 PRO?
There's a Nintendo tree house in 2 hours today. 2pm UK time.
And one tomorrow.
Wish I could watch the treehouse. I want to see the games and I really want a Prime 4 release date. Probably Fall.
