Leading up to the release of Resident Evil 5 I plan to do a full series playthrough, I will play all 7 games in the main series (and maybe UC as well since its canon) in order of their release. As I play them I will just throw up whatever thoughts on the game I have. Some of them I have not played in years so I wonder what my reaction will be, maybe I forgot a certain scare, or noticed something for the first time.

So why dont you guys join me. I am doing this on another site as well so this is a copy/paste job, dont worry I will get more personal with you guys if you respond here.

RESIDENT EVIL:

I will be playing the DS version of RE mainly cause it has no load times. I will be playing the original mode obviously. I will play as Jill cause that is my primary character for RE1, I have always loved her side more than Chris, why, cause of a red bearded badass of a man named Barry Burton (I heart Barry).

So the original, no game in this series even comes close to holding such a special place in my heart. Its not my favorite RE game, but its by far the most important to me. This is the game I know by heart, I know the lines, I know every room, every enemy, every scare, everything. Its the game that changed my whole view on gaming, its the reason I am here at a site like this. If I had entered into this series at a later point I doubt I would ever have the same love for this series, its all cause of this one game that I am the fan that I am.

The night I got this game, way back in 96, is seriously one of my best childhood memories, a sleep over with my brother and a friend, we stayed up playing this mindblowing game, something we had never seen before. I will never ever forget it, none of us will forget it, we still talk about that night to this day. This game was so ahead of its time, so groundbreaking. Every time I play this game all those feelings come rushing back

Ok enough about it, time to play it. I will start tomorrow and probably end it tomorrow, I can beat this game rather quickly. I will be back with all sorts of thoughts after I play.

LOL I don't even want to know how you came up with that.

Jill V running about in her clubbing gear,

I thankfully played RE3 on Dreamcast which had eight selectable costumes to start the game with. I chose her RE1 outfit. Happy

RE3 was the same thing as RE2, so how could it suck?

BTW....very disappointed that nobody LOLed at my Dvader quote.

I LOLed but it was so vulgar I couldn't LOL

RE3 sucked crap out of a owls butthole. Jill V running about in her clubbing gear, then Carlos was crap and the running monster Dildo breaking in random rooms and shouting STARS. Awful.

RE0 is a quality game just annoying 2 player mechanic and by then the rigid camera angles and archaic controls seemed.... archaic. REmake had the old nostalgia element and improvement of visuals from the original.

You're nuts if you think Zero is better than Nemesis.

You know the second snake fight and how it creates a hole in the ground that leads to the underground section, why in the hell is there a grave in a room that has no exits but to go down into the basement  and is under the floor of another room. Why is the ladder from the basement there, you climb up the ladder and end up in this enclosed tiny space with no way out. Every other part of the house at least makes sense, this one doesn't.

A mansion where most of the rooms are either booby-trapped, and/or only accessible through solving puzzles makes sense to you?

Anyway, I already played through REmake, RE2, and part of RE3 a couple months ago, so I'm not feeling nostalgic enough to play them again. I always like watching how other people play them, though. You should record or stream your playthroughs.

Well the rest of it is at least somewhat logical. Its funny that Dvader brought that up, because I've never thought to myself yet every time I play RE1, I think the same thing; WTF did they put this dude's grave in the middle of a house for?!

I guess it prevails in being totally creepy, though.

What I meant was that every other part of the house at least connects to each other like an actual building, its there are no sections where there is an empty hole where something should be. All doors lead somewhere, all rooms you can get in and out of, except this one.

Finally finished scenario 2 final time was 2 hours 47 minutes, 0 deaths. I have yet to die in this run but I think it may end in the next game cause Nemesis is a badass.

I love the 2nd scenario, I love the alternate routes you take, the new bosses you encounter, not to mention playing the game as the other character gets you a whole set of new weapons and a new storyline. I love how things on the first run effect the second like if you used the shutters in the police station. I love you see things that happend off screen the first time, like how did that helicopter get there. I love how the game plays on your expectations from the first scenario to deliver new scares. Its pure brilliance.

Then there is Mr. X, the Nemesis before Nemesis. I never knew much about him when I first played the game, he was a shock, who is this huge guy?! There was no enemy like him, this guy that sort of stalked you all over the place, it was freaky. He has what I consider to be the greatest scare in RE history, the kool aid wall burst. But not just once, he does it again in the hallway, when he did that on my first time playing I jumped out of my chair and hid, I was paranoid from then on cause no wall was safe. It was so great to see the Tyrant in its finished form.

After the RPD I love the new path you take, the different route through the lab with all those new locations. There is the all new boss fight on the tram which has to have the hardest version of G. He got me in this super slash move, yikes. One of my favorite moments is when you go into that control room in the tram shaft where you look on the monitor and Mr. X shows up on the screen, genius.

Leon's story in this game is fantastic and even better in Leon B. The Ada love story is more fleshed out and you get that great kiss scene at the very end.  Ada is heroic in Leon B almost giving her life for Leon... which is not like her at all, in fact the way she acts in Leon A is much more Ada like. But I rather have the better drama. I love the overall story in this game, probably the best in the series.

Leon's set of weapons are so great. Its the first time you find parts to upgrade your gun which becomes a staple of the series from then on. The super shotgun has to be one of the best weapons in the entire series.

One thing I noticed in this run, the music in that lab room where you had to put your fingerprint of both to unlock, its fantastic. Its such a rare room, why does it get such a great piece of original music.

Great final boss fight against the Tyrant, it was like the first game except this guy was faster. So you get in the train and the game is over... nope, I loved that moment, when you realize holy crap there is something new at the end. The G monster shows up and its huge, the fight was easy but still impressive. The real final movie is epic, with all the characters climbing around the train trying to get it to stop before it blows up. Love the last line.

RE2 is still my favorite of the old RE, and this run just reconfirmed it. It did everything right, it got the balance right of how RE should be. It still unique in that no game really has the swapping system this game did. A masterpiece.
