From Eurogamer's CP2077 demo impressions:

You can take a reflex booster such as the Kereznikov to enhance your reactions. Drug taking is a part of the game, done via asthma pump-like devices.

So this rules out the game ever being released in Australia.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a mature game intended for a mature audience, CD Projekt said, and as as a result features full frontal nudity.

Bad news for ass loving people.  sorry Edge.

For triple-a games, the publishers usually just remove the drug feature, or alter it so it's inoffensive to censors.

Doesn't seem easy to do if it's both a gameplay and narrative element.  Reminds me a lot of the recent example of 'We Happy Few', where the game was banned because the act of taking drugs was linked to a beneficial gameplay situation.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 trailer looks good. New class is nice, though I do wonder if they'll keep the class system they introduced in VC2. That was not really indicated in the trailer. I hope so because a couple of the advanced classes were pretty slick.

Retro first-person shooter Dusk coming to Switch

I read this and thought that Retro Studios had a new FPS IP for the Switch....then I click on it and get nothing but disappointment.

GG is trolling us.

That was the exact headline of the story. I was also tricked. Then laughed. Then thought you guys deserved the same.

See, it worked out for everyone. Meanwhile Retro has tweeted when asked about their E3 no shows that it was "Taco Tuesday" at work. I am not even kidding here, that was their response.

I really watched hardly any of the videos but E3 seems very meh this year.  RE2 and TloU2 looked great but that’s about it for me.  No Metroid Prime 4 ?  For shame, Nintendo.  For shame.

WHat will I be playing on switch this year, splatoon 2 again and then Smash in Dec. This is Wii U all over again.

Fire Emblem Switch looks amazing as well. Sold!

Why do you still not play new Xenoblade games? There's also Mario Tennis, Octopath Traveler is out next month. Octo expansion out today. That Pokemon Let's Go game is going to be good. It was the first Pokemon game I ever played and it's a proper RPG. Also, Fire Emblem. There's also a shit tonne of download games on the eshop.

You could get Donkey Kong, which I don’t recall you playing.  It’ll still be like Wiii U all over again though. Nyaa

This game looks pretty good to me:

USGamer said:

Daemon X Machina is a Spiritual Successor to Armored Core on Switch

We check out the Switch's new mech game.

An Armored Core sequel has been rumored for ages, but has failed to appear, so a breakaway group headed by former AC developer Kenichiro Tsukuda is stepping into the fray. His vision can basically be summarized as "Armored Core with destructible environments," and while it doesn't have quite the same amount of crazy customization as FromSoftware's games, you can still carry a host of weapons, from laser swords to bazookas. You can also unlock new mechs, pick armor, and customize for durability, mobility, and more.

As with Armored Core, missions revolve around "Orders," which are mercenary missions that will earn you variable amounts of money. The orders you choose will determine how the story progresses as well as your allies. The money you earn can subsequently be put toward new weapons.

All of this will be familiar for Armored Core fans. What differentiates Daemon X Machina, apart from its much more colorful palette, are its aforementioned destructible environments. This mainly applies to the buildings, which you can send tumbling down upon enemies if you get the timing right. You can also pick up cars and throw them, rip out sign posts and use them as swords, or pick up weapons from fallen enemies and use them.

The result is an environment that feels more dynamic despite appearing fairly small. Tsukuda also wants to have hidden items on top of buildings, encouraging you to explore and make use of your surroundings.

So while Daemon X Machina is in many ways a spiritual successor to Armored Core, it's still going its own way. I remarked that the colorful graphics, which resemble those of No Man's Sky at times, make it seem like he's going for a broader audience than AC's core group of mech nuts. He told me, "We deliberately made this easy to get into, but there is depth to the gameplay as well."

I believe him. Armored Core games were nothing if not deep—sometimes self-defeatingly so. A more balanced approach is definitely welcome.

Tsukuda intends for Daemon X Machina to be a full packaged game—not an eShop game—and is working on the Unreal Engine. Asked what kind of multiplayer options it will have, he said, "We're thinking about ways for everyone to play together, but we'll introduce exactly how we plan to do that at another time."

Was anyone else surprised how similar the combat seems in Last of Us 2 and Tomb Raider 3? Both real stealthy and brutal. One likes fish and the other doesn't.

Ok I just watched some Cyberpunk footage....there's no way this is running on an Xbone/PS4. Not THIS version being shown. I had heard awhile ago that this was going to be a cross-gen game, as in PS4 and PS5....and I'm thinking this version shown is running on some kind of next-gen dev kit because it looks ridiculous.

They should do a 2D version like Shadowrun.

Watched the Bethesda event, that Todd Howard is a fuckin' comedian!

The opening joke about Skyrim was great. And Fallout 76 has me more excited than I thought after watching the footage. Looks better than Fallout 4 honestly. And the online aspect gives it a bit of Dark Souls flare. That's the type of online I enjoy....not REQUIRED, but adds to the experience.

Nothing on Starfield or Elder Scrolls 6 but that's fine seeing as they're both far off and no doubt cross gen games.

I'm not suggesting it's an identical situation at all. But there are certainly some similarities. For a start, Nixon ended up as a bit of a maverick dickhead who, in spite of his scandalous presidency and corruption, achieved quite a few things that were probably good for all involved re. Russia and China. Whether this will be true of Trump with North Korea time will tell, but I see no reason why one should assume it can only go badly. More importantly, the China of 1972 had had a pretty rotten record. Indeed, it needed that meeting much more than America did, just as North Korea needs this more than America does today. Was it a basketcase in the same way as North Korea is? No, but it had certainly been a massive basketcase for a long time in its own right. There also wasn't a new leader potentially looking to make a name for himself by breaking with the old guard. The fun of historical comparison isn't finding things that are identical, and nor should it be.

Anyway, it seems like this is more positive move than the way America is presently dealing with their other pet bogeyman, Iran. And why isn't North Korea in the consideration here? This is clearly something they want. Just because they're dicks, doesn't mean their feelings shouldn't be considered; particularly if we look at this in terms of your classroom analogy. Nyaa

North Korea (allegedly; I don't know how reliable Nicholas Eberstadt is, and I think I got this from him) was first on the list of countries Bush 2.0 wanted to invade to embellish his legacy with, but the military pooh-pooh'd the idea. So perhaps the plan is to leverage a situation through diplomatic influence in which the military would be happy with an invasion taking place. It's certainly the go to country to be frightened of when terrorists or Middle Eastern dictators aren't killing enough people. Not only that, but North Korea is itself an aspect of Chinese-American relations.

So far as I can see, to ignorant people like myself, there's two more ways of interpreting the whole thing: denuclearise North Korea (it's doubtful they'd actually do that anyway; so it's also possible that this is the first step towards war with them: exhausting all other options—there are three more ways of interpreting this), so you can institute regime change in a manner that pleases China, or simply position yourself as the country that fostered the opening up of North Korea through your diplomatic prowess. The reason we're all talking about this is it's a pretty ballsy move, and to most of North Korea's neighbours this isn't just about nukes. I'm interested in all divinations, though.

I agree completely: the only country to have used nuclear bombs outside of a dick measuring contest is America, and the only country to still use nuclear weapons (depleted uranium) is America. Personally I don't care about nukes, and have never understood the fascination with being squeamish over certain forms of mass murder, but not others. Particularly when many acceptable methods of mass murder are usually pretty horrible ways to die, maim many more people than they kill, and leave vast areas of land unusable, while continuing to kill and maim the poor saps who still live there due to having nowhere else to go for decades afterwards.

I have neither the time, knowledge, or energy to reply to this, but I will +1 you for your Blackadder goes forth reference.

State of Decay got away with it by changing the drugs to vitamins after initially being banned, and Fallout 3 changed its morphine to med-x. Which shows you how much more clout a massive publisher has, I dare say.

Like you say, though, it being a narrative element makes it more tricky. I don't think the drugs in State of Decay or Fallout 3 were that important to the narrative, but I haven't played either of them.

Nor have we played CP2077, making comparing them even harder still.
